I got my navel pierced last week (I've had other body piercings, no problems)!
From the moment I got it done, through now it has been sore, the pain isn't as bad now. The skin in that area has been red (but no swelling or dryness) and my navel area has always turned red with touching or pinching.
I was told to constantly move and spray it with sea salt. Well everytime I move it, it bleeds a little. It doesn't look like any of the infected pics I've seen online, aside from the redness, but it is not dry or swollen. Now the upper part seems to be literally sinking in, tearing my skin.
From the start I wondered if she pierced too much skin...it feels like someone is pinching my navel.
I got it done at a reputable tattoo parlor and they did my other piercings. I am probably heading there tonight reguardless, but I just wanted to know if this is common...or if it sounds like a real problem.

The sea salt makes it feel better and the redness has been pretty much constant!

My main concern is where it is sinking in to the skin.

First things first - Stop moving it arround! Everytime you move the piercing, you disturb the healing tissue and start the healing process all over again. You were given bad advice on that one.
Try soaking it with the sea salt solution, as opposed to spraying it. (get a shot glass and hold it against your belly around the piercing, submerging it)
It also sounds like the jewelry is too short. If it's sinking into the skin and feeling like it's pinching then that's a big part of the problem. It may be swollen (you may not be able to notice it, but it probably is) and needs longer jewelry. Go back to the studio and see if that's the problem, and have them switch it for something longer.

First of all, do not use gold because the man or woman above steered. Gold is an excessively porous steel, and isn't well for treatment a piercing, as it may possibly harbor micro organism. Also, it's not a natural steel. There are components in gold that make it more potent, and the ones components can react badly in a contemporary puncture wound. Having mentioned that, from what you've got defined, you will not be anatomically suited to a navel piercing. I might say cross to a couple of piercists, and get many reviews. Also, there's proof to aid that better gauged piercings heal extra simply than thinner jewellery, as a result of the loss of the "cheese cutter" outcome. This signifies that strain placed on a skinny piece of jewellery will purpose it emigrate quicker, wherein as a better piece of jewellery with the identical quantity of strain has extra floor field to unfold the strain out. If you are going to make use of a better gauge barbell, cross with a lighter metaerial corresponding to titanium, niobium, or pyrex.

Its normal for newer piercings to be red, but make sure that redness doesn't get worse and make sure it doesn't start leaking green pus, become swollen and all that ickyness because then you'd have a problem on your hands.
I wouldn't move the jewelry around a lot. The only time you need to be moving it is only slightly and when you clean it and even then be gentle with it, the piercing is new and will take a while to heal so you need to use caution. And the blood that comes out should be in very minimal amounts. Just keep it clean and never be afraid to go to your piercer with concerns.

Mine hurt for a long time. It was tender for at least a month! I think heading back there so they can check it would be a good idea. Oh and sea salt? I don't know, but they gave me a special soap with extra antibacterial ingredients.
