I belong to a religion, the Baha'i Faith, which would probably not condone what I'm about to write. Yet, I must agree with you. I believe, if you have feelings so strong like you do, that they'll come true. People have intuition--trust it.

People of Buddhist faith believe in reincarnation. Each time of reincarnation is an opportunity to be a better person and that this cycle continues until we reach Nirvana (perfection). They believe that all living creatures are reincarnated.

I know you must be feeling heartbroken at the death of your cat losing a loved one always hurts. I don't think it would be wise for you to hope for a cat exactly like your old one in every way. Just like humans, all cats have different personalities, and when a new one comes into your life, you will appreciate the special things about that one.

I don't think you are crazy. Just like anyone who has lost a loved one very recently, you are holding out hope that one day you will be reunited.

You are not nuts, I believe that their sprite is with us. When I had to put down my cat Dusty almost two years ago, I would be crying and it felt as if he was there trying to comfort me. I feel that some day I Will be with all my pets that have past on. You are not a nutbag. Don't let anyone put you down or tell you your crazy? A cat or dog is part of a your family. We grieve when we lose a family member, isn't a pet a family member. Good luck.

Hey kiddo,I sympathize with you.I just lost my 17 yr old cat a two weeks ago.She died as I held her in my arms.
The lose of a pet is very sad and sometimes hard to get over.but the hurting will ease, the heartache will lessen, until what only fond memories are left. As far as reincarnation..I leave that to the experts....I do however know that a week before she(muppie lei) died we rescued a 7 week old kitten from certain death, and she(chloe) has demonstrated several traits of the former Muppie lei...so anything is possible.
I hope your hurt grows less with every new day ;-)

When my baby died at 16 years, it just killed me. I had another cat that was pregnant. I just knew one of her kittens was going to be the reincarnation of my Jasper.

When they were born, none looked like him. I tried to find a personality of him. Nothing.

That was 12 years ago. I've had many kittens since and I looked so hard for him and always found nothing. I've got one that doesn't look a thing like him, but does act like him, however she was just two weeks old when he died. so, it couldn't be him.

I decided that Jasper was one of a kind and there's never going to be another like him. I like to believe that he's up in heaven taking care of my other kitties that have died since he was the first to go. He's taking care of everone until I get there. I will see him again some day.

But, I understand what you are saying. Maybe it will come true in your case. I do think it's possible.

Don't join a religion just because they believe something you wish were true. I wish there were no Hell, but I'm not going to become a Jehovah's Witness. Your life will be very unstable that way. It's much better for you to face reality and look forward to bonding with the new baby kittens on the way rather than pretend.

I'm sorry that your cat has died. when a pet dies it is an awful experience. I still get upset about my dog who passed away 3 years ago.

with regards to the major world religions only.

All of the "Western" religions (Judism, Muslim and Christian) typically do not believe in reincarnation however believe in an afterlife in heaven with God (although, you will find some Christians who do believe in reincarnation).

All of the "Eastern" religions (Taoism, Buddism, Hinduism) typically do believe in reincarnation as well as multiple gods.

I would strong recommend you explore your faith based on not just reincarnation but all aspects including do you believe in God, is there only one God, etc. You do not have to fit into "one religion". Faith is more than that - it is your connection to the earth, your deity(deities), your values. You may find you will cross over more than one religion. It is the main reason that you will find multiple christian faiths, multiple jewish faiths, etc.

I who happen to be a christian believe that
once something is dead it can NOT come back.
If you read Hebrews 9:27 of the bible it says so:
we die ONCE and then face judgment. So if
people do not come back then why would an animal?

Don't get me wrong I feel so SORRY that your
cat died I two have had a few of my cats die & it's
hard to go on, but get a new cat from a shelter,
that's what we did. It helped us to feel better , she's very sweet & we are glad that we were able to give her a new home .

best of luck

there is nothing wrong with you! you just miss your cat. hindus believe in reincarnation.that might help. i once read a wonderful short story about reincarnation and cats.the author seemed to think that being reincarnated as a cat was the highest possible form one could achieve. certanly would'nt be a bad life.

Here is my thought: we, people, are all a part of God and we go back to him once we die. All the things on the earth are here for our pleasure and are also part of God. I think our spirits bind to certain animals and when we are gone, they will greet us. My orange tabby died around Thanksgiving at 14 years old; I have another one to take her place and remind me of her. We can keep them alive in our minds and hearts. So...I'm a NUTBAG too...LOL. Godloveya.
