Ok, I just got selected for a low income apartment in the Bronx NY. I currently live in Brooklyn NY with my fiance and son in a 2 bedroom apartment paying 1400. I applied for a low income apartment in the Bronx and was selected for it. It's a 2 bedroom for 871 a month.
Just today I went to go see the apartment and the neighboorhood is nice and the building is beautiful. The apartment is very small though. The living room was the size of a dining room and the bedrooms were small.
The question is we want to save money for our wedding next year and also to purchase a home in 2009. Do I just pick up and move 20 miles away and find a new babysitter for my son and just say what the hell or should I stay in Brooklyn.
BTW, my fiancee didn't see the apartment yet and he's going to see it tomorrow but I think he's going to say it's too small but it's nice.
If anybody know about getting selected thru a lottery know that its a gamble and fortunate I was selected for one. What do I do

My opinion would be to have your BF look at the apartment first and then make a decision together. If one of you wants to move and the other doesn't this could cause problems in your relationship. So hopefully you both can come to an agreement. Also, Is it a hardship on your family to pay the 1400? If so then yes it would be a good move to pay considerably less a month. I would check with your current babysitter(daycare) and see if they recommend anyone in the area that you are moving to. With a little bit of planning you should be able to make the move successfully. Also- if it is smaller see if there are ways you can cut back on furniture (etc). You probably could make it work with a little bit of organization and cutting back on big pieces of furniture.
Just a thought.

the apartment is not going to be your permant residence and that is a big savings every month and with your wedding in the future i think the move would be a good thing for ya especially if your children are younger moving is easier when they are young like i said 252 savings a month is worth it thats alot of money and remember size doesnt make it a HOME ...
home is where you make it! good luck
