When I lived there... it was awesome to roll on down the road and not worry about the Polezei running you down to give you a ticket.

The autobon has a few areas that have a speed limit, thoes are inforced very well, Speeding in thoes areas will get you a hefty ticket as well as possibly a night in jail.

Take it from a person who knows. 190MPH in a 120MPH zone
not smart, Lets just say that the Goverment had to get me out of jail!

Good luck drive safe

The whole thing about a no speed limit autobahn is folklore, it is not like that now and has never been like that, it has to be the greatest old wive's tale told in the USA, thou I can think of a few others.

120 kmh or 130kmh may seem like no speed limit, perhaps even more so with the speedo reading 125 when we're used to freaking out around 85 but klmh and mph are two different things and no speed limit it isn't, and just because someone got to zoom down a road several or even numerous times without getting caught doesn't make it so, either.

They do it here, too, the speed limit's 65 or 70 and hotfoot passes you doing 90 or better, most drive at least 10 over, but some do get caught, sooner or later it happens to all who speed.

120 or 130 is like 70-75mph, and we have those kinda speed limits in the USA, too... And in Montana there is no speed limit but the police can still pull you over if they think you are reckless driving, so 100mph on a road where it isn't safe may fall under the no speed limit law but it's reckless driving and for that they can throw the offender in jail, don't pass go... Then again some get lucky, I've done a few 100's of miles in great excess of the speed limit so I know you don't get caught every single time the speedo pings 2 or even 20 miles over the limit, but once hotshot gets caught a few times most ppl slow down.

I think in a few areas of the Autobahn they did put in speed limit zones.

Whether they enforce it or not is a different story.

Some areas are restricted, other arn't.

All I know is it's ilegal to go slower than 37mph on an autobahn.
