I am 5'5 1/2'' and about 148 lbs. According to the body mass index scale I am healthy, but not my ideal weight. My ideal weight is somewhere between 120-138lbs. I would like to weigh 125lbs in 4-5 months. Is it healthy to lose that much weight so quickly? What should I being doing? How many calories should I be eating daily? How much exercise daily should I be getting? How many days a week should I be exercising?

Why not look at what you are eating and see where the "wasted" calories are - do you drink a lot of soda, eat a lot of snacks (chips, cupcakes?) and cut those out to just one "special day" (like Friday is treat day). Also, 20-30 minutes of exercise 3 days a week is usually good, but you would be amazed at how you can fit in a little "extra" exercise by parking far from the mall entrance, walk the stairs instead of taking the elevator, when watching tv do some leg lifts or arm exercises. Just making these little changes should give you what you are looking for. Good luck and God Bless.

If you go to the slim fast web site they can calculate how many calories you should be getting in a day and then track what you eat. It is a free. The healthy way is 1-2 pounds per week. Both my BF and I have been doing this with added exercises. I have lost 22 pounds and he has lost 50 pounds in 2 1/2 months. Good luck and with determination you can do it.

That is easy to do.

lose one pound of weight per week, you must reduce your caloric intake (the current number of calories you are eating to maintain your weight) by 500 calories per day - for a total reduction of 3,500 calories over the course of the week.

For example, reducing calories by 300 per day and increasing daily activity to burn off an additional 200 calories should result in a weight loss of one pound per week. So, if your daily calorie needs to maintain your weight were 2500 calories and you desire to lose weight, you could:

Consume 2200 calories (that's 300 calories less), and
Burn 200 calories through activity, to result in a 2000-calorie total!
