Yes you can train a Yorkie I have four. All of them were very easy to train. You just need to start training them when you first get them. All of my dogs are both traded to go outside and to us a pod die pad. These really makes it easy on me. I would really say a fence is a great idea tho these makes it easier on you, and it will be safer for the dog this makes it where other dogs can not come in and get your dog and your dog can not get out . But yes you can train a Yorkie . i would really train them on the pads tho . It is really easier for you .

Yes, ALL dogs can be trained to stay in any yard...but training is the key!! You need to take your dog to an outdoor training class. Normally you can find these classes in your area, and they are usually held at a park. You can also get private training at your home, if your willing to pay extra. The training will teach you how to make the dogs feel they are safe within a certain distance from you or your home and anything outside of that is "dangerous" or even "life threatening" for them. The trainer NEEDS to know what you are expecting from the training.

Pick up an invisible fence boundary kit. These are wonderful gadgets. You place these electro flags around the area of your yard and place the sensor on your pets collar and turn the sensor on, when your pet goes anywhere pass those flags your pet would get a slight shock that prevents your pet from leaving the yard, this is a very safe and effective way to train your pet to stay in the yard. These kits prices vary but any petsmart or petco carries them and you will feel very comfortable using this product.

I hope that I had helped you on this matter. Good Luck

I have 3 dogs and wouldn't trust any of them without a fence. Dogs have a natural instinct to follow scents and can become totally absorbed in that and wander away. Also, I used to have a Yorkie and he was the most difficult dog I've ever lived with. At obedience school, they said he was untrainable. I never got him housebroken - I just learned that when he headed down the hall it was time for him to go out. We called him a Yorkshire Terror. One of my dogs is a Shih Tzu and she's much more affectionate, trained easily, and is well-behaved. One other thing, if you do get a fence, remember toy dogs can get under very small spots. I put bricks around the bottom of our privacy fence to avoid any of the three breaking out.

It is possible, but as with many dogs, can be a challenge. Training your dog to stay close to you, specifically, would probably be a wiser choice.

An invisible fence (the kind that have a wire underground) around your property might be a smarter choice, that way you don't have to keep an eye on your dog at all times. Invisible fences are good options for keeping your dog in the yard.

Good luck!

its not hard....start while hes young and train him to stay in a bathroom or kitchen with a baby gate...this lets the dog know that he has his own place....another spot of the house should be off limits to him....practice that till he stays out and stays in where you tell him, then remove the baby gate and to the same....during this time its good the crate train your dog for the same reason....when you put the dog in the yard use the same words with him that you used inside....he will know that the yard in a place he can go....outside the yard isn't, he might test you on it but correct punishment will show him that you are boss and he will learn where he can and can't go....good luck!

Yorkies are not outside dogs. They are for inside. Never leave them unattended outside they will stray. They are hunters. Look up yorkies and it will tell you these things. Terrier Legacy
The Yorkie was bred as a ratter, used to kill mice and rats in small places. [6] As a hunting group, terriers specialize in pursuing animals (usually vermin) that live in dens or burrows. [6] Animals that are cornered and defending their young will fight ferociously. Therefore, any dog that would willingly pursue them must have an extraordinary degree of courage; terriers are bred for that quality. The Yorkshire Terrier, with its feisty temperament, is no exception.

hello! How cute! any dog can be trained if you use good commands, leadership and praise. But keep in mind toy breeds are known to be head strong and will sometimes have the occasional accident. also always keep your baby on a collar and leash with current ID even if your outside with him/her.

NO DOG can be trusted to stay inside an unfenced yard. Toy dogs are typically the hardest to train. You will have a lost or dead dog very quickly if you try this. All dogs MUST have fence!!! Please don't risk a dog's life trying this.

Yorkie are not outside dogs and can easily be paper trained. As far as yard bounderies I don't know it depends on the dog and how much time your willing to put into her training.
