If you're already far into the relationship- meaning you've been with this person for like, a year, or have developed a serious emotional bond with him then there is a huge chance for survival. But then, if you have just started dating, or have not yet connected emotionally too strongly with each other, then the distance will be very difficult to handle. Phone calls, email, voice chats, webcams, sms will just not equal or replace physical presence that is requisite to growing with the person you love. Sorry sweetie, that's the hard truth.

definitely! my boyfriend is in Iraq and we have been doing the long distance thing for awhile now. Sure, you'll argue and its much harder than being together all the time -- but it's worth it if you love him. There has to be trust and open communication on both ends - othewise it will never work.

Depends on the dedication, commitment and mutual trust and attraction between two.

They are determinants for any relationship, short or long distance.

Sure, but they also face more challenges than local relationships so the failure rate is higher.

I've been through a couple and it's by far not my preferred method of relationship.

No.

For you to even think you might be the exception to the rule would be foolish on your part. The only question is which one of you will break the others heart.

it can and it can't. depending on you and the person. if you two are really committed to each other. if you at least see each other once every month or 2 or something. actually spend time thinking about each other. but really up to you and how much you want to commit to them. good luck and happy life.

Nope,

The relationship can't continue to "grow." You can try to maintain what you have but it can't move forward since you are not together.
