Day Bed: has three sides and can only accessed from one side. It fits both twin matresses and full size matresses. Much like a couch that many teens prefer when they have friends over.

Twin Bed: it is accessible on all sides, is regular length and height, but will only suit an average size person or teen.

Toddler bed: it is accessible on all sides. It is smaller and lower on the ground than a twin bed or day bed, but it is very practical for a toddler. Keep in mind, a twin bed is more economical and practical for a growing child and will not have to be replaced in a few years.

Hope that helps!

A twin is a regular sized mattress you can buy at any bedding store. A day bed is a regular twin mattress in a bed frame that goes flat against the wall to be used like a couch in the day time and you can get a trundle that goes under it. A toddler bed is smaller than a twin, may be able to use crib mattress in it, just means you have to buy another bed in the future.

Day bed is the size of a twin but instead of a head board it has a side board so that you can prop pillows up on it during the day to look like a couch. A toddler bed is closer to the ground, usally has rails and the mattress is the one from their crib so it is much smaller than a twin. Not very useful unless you have alot of kids to pass it down to.

Before you buy the frame, you should search for the rails. They may not be available. Unless you know someone who could adapt any rail to fit, the frame is a waste of money. Day beds are simply twin beds. Any twin sheet will fit.
