Well last night she jumped on my face and held on with her claws, finally jumped off and darted away, yet the very next day she snuggled up on me and loved on me all day. she's really a sweet cat but i'm having second thoughts.

Your kitten needs some play therapy to direct her toward appropriate play. Here's a good article on play aggression that may help you: http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.php?action=library&act=show&item=playaggression

For safety's sake, you may want to trim her claws. It's a good idea to get your cat used to having her claws trimmed when she's young, so you can trim them without a struggle when she gets old and needs your help maintaining them at a healthy length. This link has instructions on how to trim a cat's claws: http://www.catscratching.com/htmls/article.htm

Does this type of thing happen often? If it does, you may have a cat that has a mental defect. We had a cat when I was living at home that would attack me for no reason. After he did it 3 or 4 times and left some pretty bad scratches on me face, arm and back, my mom and dad had enough and had it put down. The vet said that animals, like people, can have mental problems and some can turn violent for no reason and can't really be rehabilitate. If she is just playing, she might be a little over zealous in her play and you will have to correct this by scruffing her and telling her no. If she seems to be doing this out of meanness, then she may not be able to be rehabilitate. Only you know which it is.

Cats can be very aggressive and can cause serious harm. Your cat needs to be trained, contact a well educated animal trainer that could give you some advice. You might want to declaw your cat so no injuries will come to you, domestic cats can do alot of damages to you including causing you to be taken to the hospital for stitches. Whenever your cat becomes aggressive smack her and tell her NO very firm, she will probably jump down and run, but thats ok, cats are well known to forgive and forget. You probably allowed her to do things when she was a baby, but now that she's older she thinks she is the queen of the home and can do what she wants, this is what changes good pets into little stinkers. I hope that I gave you some good info.

Good Luck on what you decide

My kitten does the same thing. She is nuts. Sometimes I wonder if she is normal or not. She will calm down though, you just have to be patient. Your parents went through the same thing with you when you were growing up...you just didnt have claws, I hope. If the problem persists and you really cant take care of her, give her to a friend or family member, dont bring her to the pound. You can also ask your vet about some suggestions or read some stuff online. There are lots of guide on how to handle cats and their different problems.

The best thing to do is shut your bedroom door, which will remove the temptation. If she gets insistent at the door, she needs to be put in the bathroom at night. Make sure she has something soft to sleep on.

Some cats just want to play in the middle of the night. I had one that would bite my elbow and say "meh" because he wanted to play. He'd get under the covers and claw his way up my leg or bite my toes. I loved him to pieces because he was such a sweetheart during the day, so I just set him up in another room and peace returned.

I'm assuming you let her know that jumping on your face is none too cool. If she's a kitten, they'll try anything to get your attention and not know the boundaries. If she's an adult cat I'm wondering if she got into something like cat-nip (I don't know why they censored "N.I.P.") or something that she had a reaction to. Try to figure out why she's doing it first. In the meantime just keep snuggling and playing with her. If it doesn't stop, talk to a vet.

Keep the cat and train her to recognize YOU as the alpha-kitty; not herself. Cats have a "pecking order". One is dominant and the others fall somewhere below the Alpha-cat. Notice how cats respond to each other if they don't like a behavior. You have to train her like a mama cat would. If she does something you don't like, you hold her head in your hand and hiss at her, then let her go and give her some grooming. You can hiss at her instead of "no" or verbal orders because it is much more effective. "Hey, she speaks cat just like me! I get it!" If she does something that's really unacceptable, you put her head in your hand, hold on and growl at her, just as if you were the grown alpha-cat. She will get the hint and respond accordingly. You just have to think like a cat and reward her with some grooming, with your hand or fingers, on the face afterward when she gets the message. It's amazing how well they will behave once they understand who is boss. And you can do it without hurting them. Godloveyou and kitty.

re train and please don't declaw as it is like removing the tip of your finger down to the first joint. it also stops them from defending themselves if they are outside cats. she may have had a fright and react in this way. maybe she got into the catnip and had too much. until you know and you might never know what caused it. please also don't take her to a humane society a cat is for life. you can put soft claws on her or learn to trim her claws. if she is not fixed get her fixed as it will make her a better cat to keep. good luck

Sounds like she needs some sort of activity to use that energy on! Try getting her some toys! My cats love the feathers on a stick toy - gets rid of a lot of demonic energy!

Good luck.
