My pc froze and when I restarted it won't get past the start up screen that says e-machine across it. What do I do now? It is windows me.

me ... prolly reformat ... see if it will go into safemode by hitting F8 on boot .... if so uninstall any recent apps or drivers .. see if u can figure out what caused the hang ...

Honestly, if it is an Emachine computer with Windows Me on it, you are better off just buying a new computer.

The cost of having it fixed, or the frustration of fixing it yourself is not worth putting into that machine.

The issue is definitely hardware related. It could be anything from the hard drive, memory or even the processor overheating.

I would have you remove and reseat all the components inside the computer, it is a possibility that it is just a poorly aligned component. If this does not solve the problem, just go get a new computer, or even a used one would be better than what you have.

If i was you i wipe that hole drive clean an install a fresh copy of XP.

depends on exactly what is displayed on screen when it wont go further. it cud be the fact that your operating system is "broken". try reinstalling it see if it helps. if u dont noe how to do that ask a technician or if you want my help e-mail me at myles.wolfers@sky.com i shud be able to help u. i love helping ppl thats y i signed up 4 yahoo answers, i dont even use yahoo email.

Try to boot in safe mode.. shut down than try and restart.

try to restart it one more time, if it does the same thing, restart your computer in safe mode and see if you can find the problem.
