I just went to tan in a bed this morning and did ok then after a couple of hours my chest became very itchy. it is the only part of my body that does this what can it be?

It's the tanning accelarator lotion. Take a shower if at all possible ASAP after tanning. Tanning outside does not bother me but tanning in a bed makes me itch. The difference is the tanning product.

tanning dries the skin, leeches out the essential moisture, your chest itches because it is closest to the lights and dries the most. Do yourself a favor, avoid skin cancer, avoid looking 50 by the time you are 35 and stop tanning now.

that exact thing happened to me. Using a moisturizing lotion helped & then my skin got used to the tanning bed so it stopped after a few times i went.

It's the UV making your skin really dry. Try some dry-skin lotion--Lubriderm brand is good for dry skin
