I have a friend who is moving from private insurance to Medicare in the near future. How do I find out for him what doctors, psychiatrist, therapists, etc. participate in Medicare? Most likely, the health care providers would be in Connecticut.

On the Medicare web-site you can search for participating doctors by Geography, Proximity, Name, Specialty (such as psychiatry or psychologist or General Practive, etc...)

Look here at this link:

Contact the doctor he is interested in seeing and ask, most doctors do accept medicare, I haven't had any problem getting a doctor.

Look them up in the phone book or online, then call or email them about what they accept.

Also there may be a community mental health facility where you are that will see him on a sliding scale.
