Common sense tells you he has a name that is above all.

God never tells us his proper name in the Bible or even in Jewish writings. Knowing someone's name, in those days, is a sign of power over that being. That's why God gave all the animals to Adam (second creation story in Genesis) to have him name each of them. God wanted Adam (or mankind) to have control over the animal and plants of the earth.

You've heard "I don't believe I caught your name." "I don't believe I threw it." Well, the first person wants to know the other's name and have a bit of an advantage over the second. The second person denies that privilege and does not tell his name to the first. It's a power struggle.

All we are given as a name, from God's mouth, is "I Am."

God is called by many names: I AM, Ancient of Days, Lord, Holy Spirit, Jehovah, Alpha and Omega, Begining and the End, Almighty, Living Waters, Vine, Way, Truth, Light, King of Kings, Messiah, Most High, Awesome God, Christ, Faithful and True.

The list goes on.

He has many names

Jehova
Jehova Jira: My Provider
Prince Of Peace
The Great "I AM"
King Of Kings
Jesus
Emmanuel

There is a ton more, make sure you look at the Christian names though.

Edit: Nowhere in the Bible is the name "Allah" used. That's some misleading Middle-Eastern made-up name for their god.

Heidi. That's my cat. She is god, just ask her.

Dahlia: Allah is the Arabic word for God, just as Dios is the Spanish and Dieu is the French.

You will not find the word God in a Biblical translation in any language other than English.

Depends on who you ask. According to Judeo-Christian tradition, God's name is YHWH (possibly pronounced "Yahweh" which literally means god God). Muslims call the same diety Allah. Other monothesitc religions have different names for "him" as well. Politheistic religions have several gods and most have a "top" god, with also varying names.

YHWH which is the personal name of God. The word LORD in caps is where u know it's being used in the Bible. Another name is El but it never appears by itself, like El Shaddai, Elohim, El Olam, Elyion. Jehovah is the misspelling of Yahweh. Adonai is another name of God
