This is in regaurds to the State of California and these red light cameras. I know that running a red light is illegal. So is being stoped in an intersection when the light turns red since it's impeding traffic.

I know that these cameras can ticket for running the red light and in some instances for speeding. But can these cameras ticket someone for being stopped in the middle of the intersection due to heavy traffic? In other words can they ticket for impeding the flow of traffic? Or are none of them set up for that sort of thing?

For a traffic violation like that how much would it cost in Culver City? How much would it cost in Van Nuys?

Thanks for your assistance.

Usually you the camera will show you entered the intersection on yellow and did not complete the turn before the light turning red.

At least that's what my first red light ticket showed. Guilty, I was. The charge in Georgia is $70.

According to the way the law reads (regarding intersections), you should not enter an intersection until you are assured you can clear it.

So, if you get stopped in the intersection because of traffic you should not have been there in the first place and the ticket is justified.

On the other hand, sometimes you just get stuck! Try arguing it in court. You do have the opportunity for your hearing. Costs? Who knows?
