If you look in the travel brochures then they tend to give you the average rainfall of each month. I have been to the Caribbean twice once in October to the Dominican Republic and it poured down. The second time was in March to St Lucia and the weather was wonderful - possibly the best time to go.
Have you thought about the Indian Ocean instead, as it is probably a better time of year to go.

Perhaps putting this is the Caribbean category would give you more an informative reply - just a suggestion
I went to Barbados, Dominica Republic last year, and as a child went to Bahamas. You do get the sun, white sand, but it will depend on what you want out of the country... activities, complete tranquil environment, shopping, historic views, culture.. i would say your best bet would be to get a Far Away, or Caribbean brochure, and have a flick through. I usually choose my destination by the how nice the hotel is... lol.. Cuba is also a nice spot, plan to go Varadero in Cuba, they have a Sandals (adult only resort) which is really reasonable (for Sandals), and you can get day trips to the capital Havana for a bit of the culture, cigars, and old cars..
For a honeymoon i would prefer the Indian Ocean personally, like the Maldives, or Seychelles they have excellent coral reefs, and is just complete bliss... you can a day week PADI course, for a few hours a day.. and then the second week just relax and do nothing... they water bungalows look great..!!
Before booking the holiday make sure you check the reviews of the hotel on TripAdvisor http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk
Hope ive given you some ideas...

I went to Jamaica in August.
We got rain almost every day but only for an hour or so - so good time to have a 'siesta'.
The beaches and the watersports were lovely but I found going out of the resort slightly intimidating and being in the resort like not really seeing the reall island and the real people. I like holidays where I get to mix with the people who live there and I didn't feel I could do this in Jamaica - I was either being sold to or my hair was being pulled for braiding (I have long blonde hari) or the people working in the resort were overly polite and made me feel a bit embarrassed to be putting them in that situation.
One of the less 'touristy' islands would probably be better.

If you want a good temp in august then you have to go to the British Virgin Islands.During the last week of July and the begining of August is Carnival and the sun is shining all day; not too hot but good enough to make the day enjoyable. There is lots to do there and I am sure that you will have a good time.

I'm checking my travel binder now for carribean for August.
Antigua has the least rainfall at 122mm per month
St Lucia is worse at 269mm. Temps would be in the 30's so hot.
What about Cancun?
If I were you I would consider the Maldives in the Indian Ocean as rainfall them is only 7mm per month!!!!!!!

Aruba and Bonaire are great - people are wonderful and the beaches in Aruba are like suger - just fantastic!
Rainfall is pretty nil and if you get a rain shower, it doesn't last long enough to ruin your day.

come to Curaçao and go to mambo for white beaches! Aruba is a cool place too... and you can go to St. Maartin wonderful place! i lived there for 4 years.... and you can try Bonaire if you are looking for a more peaceful place.... and let me see where else... uhm... well i guess that's about it.... but i would recommend Curaçao if you want to be busy the whole day.... Aruba for crazy parties at night (well actually mambo is still the best party place) and Bonaire if you want to be more relaxed!
