has definitely made up something vicious about you...how should you respond?...(i do not want to say what it is...it is just something bad and i think they are jealous)....But ...1/2 the people will believe it and your friends will NOT....

If the person said it to you directly, you can challenge the comment.
If you "heard" it from someone else, this is gossip. If you respond to this, then it snowballs, he tells someone else, they tell another, yadaydayada. What a bore.
Gossip is rubbish to be ignored.

I would confront the person, preferably in a group so you have witnesses, and ask them WHY they said what they did and don't ask the question in an angry tone. Let the other know that they have hurt you with their comment and that you expect an apology. Do this in a group. That will tend to keep the other from doing anything similar again. This has worked for me on several occasions.

Well its up to you to confront them, ask them why they said and how they came up with it
-- and make sure that you can prove that it isn't true -- people believe things for a reason whether true or not so maybe they all got the impression that whatever this person said you did, you could have done.

Confront the person in a non-threatening way and ask him/her why s/he started the rumor about you. Then, just ignore the rumor and if anyone asks you if it's true, tell them the truth about it. Besides, if it's not true, the truth will come out.

You shouldn't respond. Your friends won't believe them and the others don't matter. Don't obsess over what others think-the most important thing is what you know about yourself.
