So I have a 10 month old kitten who used to sleep through the night. Now all of a sudden he cries in the morning at our door (my boyfriend has bad allergies so he sleeps outside). I'll get up and feed him when I hear him crying and he will eat for about 45 seconds then he is back at the door crying again. Plus he scratches at the door and plays with the door stopper from the other side which is really annoying. We play with him plenty during the day so I don't know what it could be. Does anyone have any suggestions because currently we are locking him in the bathroom with his litter-box, food, and water when he won't stop cyring and we don't have to be up for a couple more hours. HELP please!!!!!!!

He's in the house, he is strictly indoors. The door I am referring to is the bedroom door!

Cats are affectionate animals, and like with ANY animal, they don't handle being ignored or shut out very well. It could simply be a case of seperation anxiety, which in that case could really backfire on ya! One suggestion I can make though, is to scare him of the door. Make a point to shut the door when you know he's RIGHT there. Either scratch the door with your fingernails, or bang on it and make a really loud and scary noise to give him a slight fear of the door. It could possibly make him think twice about meowing at the door. ( i did this with all my doors leading outside, so now they all have a fear of the doors opening and run the other way! ... u know so they don't try and run outside! )

I have allergies, too, and I also have 5 indoor cats. What I do is vacuum frequently and keep the bedroom door closed so no cats can get in. I shut the cats in a room at night or when I'm gone, which reduces the amount of dander in my living area. If you keep the kitten inside all the time and give her dry food so she can snack all day, the crying should stop. Providing ventilation also helps with the allergies, so open a window or two just a crack.

If your boyfriend has bad allergies you may need to choose between the two. I'd choose the boyfriend over the cat and not even need to think about it.

My one year old cats do this too. They are a pair and I thought they could keep each other company - but NO -they want in to be cuddled and lay on the nice warm bed. They've actually torn up a spot of carpet by the door that I had to have repaired.

Honestly, there is no good way to make them stop. People will recommend squirt bottles of water, and other solutions. But they don't work.

My suggestion is keep your blankets laundered so the cat hair won't bother your boyfriend and let the cat in. It is really the only way to get any sleep.

He thinks you are keeping secrets, and as any cat owner (I am one for 12 years already) will tell you. Cats dont like secrets! He dosent like that you are keeping company behind closed doors. They are really just like this. If you had another cat or a cat friendly dog, he wouldnt feel so left out. However since your boyfriend is allergic, you will just have to learn to put up with the scratching, or put the cat in a kennel at night. (However, the bad behavior can get worse.) Even sillier, if you let him in your room, and left the door open, he would probably not bother you much, until you shut the door again. Cats are like this.

Which did you get first......the boyfriend or the cat?
And if you intend to keep the boyfriend, you may have to get rid of the cat, if he has allergy's, it isn't going to work. I'm guessing you got the cat, then the boyfriend.
Make sure the kitten has food, water, a nice comfy bed, and something to play with (a ball or feather on string) in the bathroom. Kittens are veryplayfull, as they are learning agility, and following their instincts.

You are not alone! My cats do this too. I have a dog that we keep seperate from our cat and whenever the cat is not sleeping in our bedroom, he meows and scratches at the door. It is VERY annoying. I'm going to check back for the advice you get.

You don't seem to have patience and your boyfriend's allergic lol. Seriously though, can your boyfriend get some Nasonex or something? Maybe then you can leave the kitten inside the house so he won't be so lonely. I'm not really a cat person because I'm allergic too so I know how your boyfriend feels and that is why I'm a dog person lol.

Good luck - my moms 7 year old cat does it still to this day if she wants attention. Try some good toys it has helped my cat & we have a sensor animated dog that she loves & plays with. As long as i give her something to play with she stays away until i wake up.

your cat seems to need alot more attention than what he is getting, not that you don't give him attention,i live in the country and my cat used to do the same thing untill we got a DOG,now when the dog goes out the cat goes out.Another thing could be is that your cat really likes your bf and wants attention from him even though he has allregies to the cat,the best advice I can give is have your bf go to the dr.and get medication for the allergies and you all will be alot happier
