you can buy alphabet biscuit cutters to use in the sand,
a tray of dry sand is good for 'finger writing 'letters,
treasure hunt with small objects/ pictures in the sand (pirates/treasure are popular at the moment) you could use a rhyme and take turns eg. 'Pirate........, find me a sound. What is the sound that YOU have found?'
A picture for every letter hidden in the sand with velcro on the back and an alphabet frieze (with velcro by each letter) in the shape of a treasure box - find all the treasure and put it in the box
message in a bottle - thin strips of card/paper with letter on (laminated) to fit in plastic bottles for 'launching' to another child who says the sound
Don't forget to take photos for display/ assessment/sound book
hey I might try these ideas myself!

Hi
My child is in primary one, an activity i done with him was to get a large sheet of paper, with a white wax crayon, write on the paper all the jolly phonics sounds. once you have done that get some paint and ask the child to paint over the paper, as he does this every sound that appears get them to sound it out.
i know it was fun for my son but it may not be the type of idea that you are looking for. As for the sand i can't think of anything else than to put all the sounds in a large pile of sand, cover them up and get the children to finger through the sand until they find a sound then get them to sound it out to you.

You could do an alphabet dig... like "D's" and things that start with that letter. i am not sure if this is what you mean... tho. I did this with my class once for D & dinosuar. we dug up dino bones they loved it.
