when most that money is put into corrupt church officials hands. Even after Jim Baker was convicted for ripping off millions, his members still tithed the church. Can you say brainwashed?

You are assuming all churches are the same in this aspect and they are not. The reason people tithe is because God commands it . It is the 1st tenth of all your gains. Truthfully, tithing is an act of obedience. The rest is up to God and the church. To borrow a line from the movie Facing the Giants, "Give your best, leave the results up to God"

Christian teaching is to tithe. That is to give the first fruits or 10% of your income. Christians tithe because God blesses them when they do. "Most that money is put into the corrupt church officials hands." That is not true at all. You are taking one corrupt preacher (Jim Baker) and comparing him to hundreds of thousands of faithful preachers.

Most good Christians would tithe no matter what happened because they know God will continue to bless them. I know for a fact that tithing blesses me. I have had countless experiences where I tithed even though I could not afford to financially and miraculous things would happen to provide for me that are completely unexplainable otherwise (gifted money from strangers, unknown overpayment of a debt refund, spontaneous out of the blue jobs, raises, opportunities, etc.).

God actually said to "test" Him in this. Christian or not, try it. I guarantee if you give 10% of your income to a church or Christian organization 1 week, you will be convinced that you are wrong.

Theres a old proverb im sure your familiar with...Dont let one bad apple spoil the bunch. While there are a few "corrupt" church officials out there, by and large, they are not. To say the most are is a gross overstatement. That being said, I tithe because in order for my church to stay open to the public, money is needed. Not only that, but its a command of Christ. If Im brainwashed, then to be brainwashed by Christ is an honor that ill proudly hold.

A believer is supposed to tithe 10% of what he and his wife makes... it's really a command from God found in the book of Malachi... Malachi 3:10. But your supposed to give to your local Church which your a member of. But don't mistake Jim Baker and televangelist for the local Church. Televangelist for the most sake by pass the local church which is wrong. I tithe to my local Church and my local Church only.

First of all,

I will, as a member of a congregation, and not in a leadership position, set the record straight. Church officials are

NOT,

ALL,

corrupt.

Now in regard to your immediate question, it is because we have to, ought to, and want to that we tithe.

tithe is an act of obedience, we are to be obedient to what God tells us to do ,which is tithe to your church, it is God's problem if staff in a church are corrupt not ours. let Him take care of those that do wrong.

Tithing is to pay the pastoral staff. It's to grow the kingdom with outreach ministries, missionaries and others in need. It pays for the lights, gas, water...etc.

Everyone will be held accountable for their stewardship...money, time...etc.
