All my children were different. My oldest always took a nap until she went to kindergarten. Even then she took naps and the teacher had a hard time getting her up.

My second regularly took naps until she was 5. Then she skipped many.

My third is in first grade. She needed her naps until she went to kindergarten. She got upset when her teacher made her lay down only to wake her up before she was ready. :o) She is so worn out by the end of the week, she will fall asleep in her carseat on the way to soccer practices.

My youngest just turned 4. My first and only son. He is an energizer bunny. LOL! He rarely will go to sleep before 10 pm and gets up at 7 am. He rarely takes naps on weekends but does during the week. I run a home daycare so he has to lay down at naptime. Otherwise, he would probably never sleep!

My son quit taking naps at the age of 2 years old, but my daughter on the other hand took naps up until she was 3 years old. I look at it this way don't force the kid to take a nap, if the child gets tired enough they will take a nap on thier own. That is what my daughter does.

My daughter still takes naps. I do notice, however, that when she is very stimulated and gets excited about something she is doing she will NOT take a nap. She will miss her nap times. She is 19 months old and still takes maybe one to two naps throughout the day before she goes to bed for the night at 8:30. Your child doesn't take naps anymore?

My twins still nap at school, they are 5, but they don't nap at home anymore. They stopped "requiring" a nap about 4 years.

Probably until 6years old. Children usually stop napping until they are 5 or 6. Preschool, kinder garden and sometimes in first grade, the children have a nape time of 15min to 1/2 hour. My son had his Nana take care of him until 61/2 and until then he napped after school for about 40min to maybe one hour. It is good for children to nap, now he is 16years old and he still naps a good 20min after school if he gets a chance out if is busy scheduled. I encourage my kids to nap, to relive stress from school. Kids do have stress.

Kids need their rest because their bodies are growing so fast. It really depends on the child. Some kids will fight you on the napping as soon as they can. When my kids don't want to nap, they have to have a quite time in their room. I can tell you that 95% of the time they still fall asleep!

My son was around 2 and a half when he stopped taking daily naps; by 3 he was done with them but I kept the routine of 'quiet time' in the afternoon for him to settle down before his dad came home from work. It also helped with my own sanity to be able to have some peace before having to get into the evening routine.

Well. At daycare she as quiet time but they dont have to sleep. So most days she just lays down and reads. On the weekends if I laydown to take a nap she may lay down with me and take one too. Then when its time for bed she's up until 2 and 3 am.

My oldest stopped about 3 1/2 yrs. old. He never was and still isn't the best sleeper. My middle one is 5yrs. and still takes a nap most days of the week. I think most kids are about 4 yrs. (+/-)
