Hi,

I have a female cat who is 1 year old this month - some aspects of her behaviour worry me a bit!! Can you let me know if this is normal or if anyone else's cats behave like this?

-She quite literally bounces off the walls - she runs up them and jumps off them!

-When she is is season she "growls" and lies on the floor with her tail up. For a week.

-She doesn't just attack flies/spiders etc... she eats them too!

-She has "mad moments" where she attacks her own back legs and tail.

-She doesn't delicately chew on her cat grass, she rolls in it and attacks it.

-She spends 10 minutes burying her poo in her litter box.

-She is obsessed with following me to the bathroom, if I don't let her in with me, she sits outside and yowls until I come out.

She was born wild, and her mum got run over, so I took her in, she was 3 months old. (I just thought I'd mention this in case it is relative!)

Thanks!

lol! how much this sounds like my cat... yes it's normal and as she gets older she'll lose some of these "quirks" and adopt other ones.

Jess my 12yr old now digs in his litter for the sake of it till 1/2 the stones are on the floor and rolls in it.

He sits at the top of the stairs(or in another room) and howls like someones killing him but when I go to see whats wrong he looks at me like I'm the one with the problem!!

He chases things that aren't under the carpet

And if i'm on the phone or reading or even on the computer (like now!) he does whatever it takes to get me to stop that and pay attention, and I mean anything!!!

You got nothin to worry about just enjoy having loads of fun and laughs with your gorgeously hilarious buddy!

No, Meg will no longer attempt to take Bubba's kittens from her. My cat Tasha had a muddle of kittens and my different cat Winowill might babysit for her while she have been given out of the field. I had Tasha's mate Muffin with me for a month or perhaps he might get in with the kittens (they have been his) and sparkling them. So in my journey, I certainly have seen different cats who've grown up at the same time guard each others kittens. Tasha's in basic terms kitten that I saved had a muddle and Tasha wiped sparkling and babysit for her. Now they're all spayed.

Everything you mentioned is perfectly normal. Cats raise their tail to encourage males when in season.
the cat is happy to be alive.
Playing with its food is prob part of wild instinct but nothing to worry about as long as the cat leaves hands and feet alone!!

Nothing to worry about. If you need the cat to calm down try getting her dressed this will help soften her mood. She just loves you and wants to be with you as often as possible.

Wow! I think you own the twin to my cat!! I, too, rescued him from the streets at a similar age and he does everything that you just said your kitty does!!! (Though he doesn't spend so long burying his poop!) He is so entertaining and funny to watch sometimes!! I reckon they'd get on really well!!

my kitten does all of the above things ,its just a bit of a mad cat thing i think .i would suggest thet you get the cat neutered tho ,it will be less noisy on you and better for the cat .spaying also prevents mammory cancer in female cats. also unneutered cats have a higher chance of being killed on the road whilst looking for a mate. but she sounds perfectly NORMAL to me !!!

she does sound pretty normal to me..... but just check that she is not chewing spider plants as I have heard that this makes cats go a bit loopy.
