Without even looking at any of the other answers I know some people will say yes it does. I beg to differ and I will also tell you something else in the meantime.
ANY fruit/vegetable that has been more than lighly steamed has had the vitamin and enzyme content almost entirely removed and thereby producing a somewhat DEAD food. It's basically just STODGE and is not doing your body any good except the bare essentials of energy.
The best quality food is raw food.

What planet are some of you people living on? An uneducated one, it seems. Potatoes absolutely are vegetables. As far as only eating raw foods,,, it is not absolutely true that eating raw foods is best for you. Look at tomatoes which have a significantly higher amount of lycopene (an antioxidant) when cooked. You can't make sweeping generalizations. Eat a healthy well-balanced diet and you'll be fine!

yes it does. it is a vegetable. however you are better eating jacket potato with the skin on or new potatoes with their skins on them. This will then be higher in fibre. I dont tend to think of chips as one of the five as they are unhealthy.

Yes it counts, but it is full of starch and not one of the healthier fruits and vegetables. Try mixing it up w/ leafy greens and different fruits. Any fruit/veggie that is full of color is full of nutrition.
