Filet Mignon, but make double use of that asparagus and do filet oscar... hell yeah for crab meat, asparagus, and hollandaise on top... you might want to drink a full bodied cab with that as well

I find that asparagus is a good acompaniment to fish, so perhaps a steamed or barbecued salmon or trout filet would fit the bill.

If fish is not your/his thing, then perhaps a few slices of seasoned pork tenderloin?

I'd go with an Italian sausage dish. Somehow that always works well with risotto.

Suggestion: giant sea scallops in a sharp cheddar cheese sauce with some crumbled bacon spread on top.

Enjoy with a good bottle of bardolino.
