Most of Pasadena is very nice. it's an "older" town, so there is much lovely architecture, parks, it has lots of expensive homes, shopping, Old Town is lovely, museums, the Rose Bowl and Cal Tech.

In general, it is one of the better communities in LA.

Pasadena is a pretty good city for the criteria you mentioned. It's not the BEST. The schools are rated very high but the type of home you get for a ridiculus amount of money is not the greatest.

The is a fairly high crime rate in Pasadena, it is minutes away from LA

I would say a far better city would be Stevenson's Ranch, Valinda area

NO. Thousand Oaks is. It's been in the top ten safest cities of a population of 100,000 or more every year for a very long time. It's also got plenty of posh lifestyle, restaurant, etc. Even more upscale would be Westlake Village, just south of TO. Both very good cities. Thousand Oaks has better schools. Conejo Valley Unified School District. It's where I grew up, and I loved it.

it's a good area but definitely not the best. posh lifestyle is very good and shopping. low crime, good schools but the houses are expensive. prepare your million dollars if you want a house that's more than 2 bed. i love the houses there though, old and have a character with long curved driveways and the shops and restaurants are just fabulous.

well, pasadena is close to east and south la, so it's not immune to crime.

in all of socal, i'd have to go with san diego. not as urbanized as pasadena/la - but plenty of opportunity.
