Hi, I have chronic renal failure, but my output was about 900 mls a day, I didn't feel the need to run to the toilet, so I am thinking that he may have a water infection. It was only after my transplant that I had to run to the toilet as my bladder was lazy. I would get checked by your renal unit or GP. I hope everything is going well and a donor comes soon. Good luck, My thoughts are with you. x

Kidney failure causes people to produce huge amounts of dilute urine. If your husband has to constantly drink water to keep up with the fluid loss, there's a good chance that the bladder is functioning normally and the problem is caused by constant output from the kidneys.

Otherwise, if the urgency occurs when the bladder is not full, then something is wrong with the bladder. The most common things causing urinary urgency are a bladder infection, and in men, and enlarged prostate gland. If you suspect that your husband's bladder is not functioning properly, it would be a good idea to visit the doc to get to the bottom of things. The doc will probably want to get a sterile urine sample, so you might need to pick up a sample cup ahead of time.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

This is an important concern that should be asked to his doctor. Only a qualified doctor/therapist can say what is really happening in his body.

Could be a nerve problem in his lower back or a prostate problem. He should see the doctor. Either could be serious. Good luck! :)
