With no doubt, the best (view the reviews) is NOD32 and its a free 30 trial which updates during trial and kicks Norton and Mcfees ***!
It wins trials every year...they throw random crap at it to test it and it always comes out in front of all the others.
I dont work for the guys either...though they should give me a job!

What ever you do, don't download McAfee, it put thousands of viruses on my computer rather than taking them off. The best one out there on the market is Norton Antivirus. You can also download Ad-aware by going to www.lavasoftusa.com!!! Hope this helps. Ad-aware is completely free. Norton anti-virus runs about $49.99ish.

AVG Anti-virus.
They have a free version for personal use.
Panda also seems to work pretty well.
We use AVG where I work for the PCs that run Windows.
We don't use anything on the Linux machines because they can't be infected by viruses.
I don't get viruses on my personal PC either because I use Linux.
The only way that you will ever get a virus on a Linux system is to do it intentionally.

AVG Anti-virus Free Edition. It is completely free. There is no trial, and it updates its virus definitions as often as the big, expensive players do.

By far the best free antivirus is Avast. www.avast.com. It catches and deletes what AVG misses.

Windows Live OneCare from Microsoft.com.
Norton and all those other ones are going to slow down your system like crazy. Windows Live OneCare becomes part of the OS, and lets your system keep running the way it should.

I've read that Norton misses over half of all viruses in tests. Go with Kaspersky. Shown to have caught over 90%, if I recall.
