It's not important only for Koreans to learn English. It's important for everyone because America is "the land of dreams and prosperity." Especially since Korea is such a small country. For most people in Korea, studying English will get them far.

Because Korean is mainly used in Korea and it doesn't prove useful for Koreans to know only Korean (how else would they trade and get along with the rest of the known world). English seems to be a language the whole world is trying to master because it's the official language for many countries (I'm not saying it's the number one language, though).

Because we might decide to invade them, and take them over, and turn them all into slaves. The only way the slaves will be able to understand the commands given to them, is if they speak english.
Just kidding, I don't know. IS it important for Koreans to study english? I believe english is the second most commonly spoken language in the world, maybe they should be learning Mandarin Chinese. If that's the case, maybe we should ALL be learning Mandarin Chinese.

Cause english is kind of the main language overall, so it would be good if they know it.

people have better chance of getting a job when they learn english. many employer just want people with various skills.
