The amplitude of a function is the maximum value of a periodic function. For the funciton y = -2sinX, the maximum value of y is 2.

So amplitue = 2. (ans.)

The amplitude is the first number before (multiplied by) the sin or cos. It doesn't matter if there is a minus-sign before it.

Depending on how your teacher taught the class, it could be plus-or-minus (+/-) the first number, or just the first number.
