I asked a guy how come he doesn't open the car door for a girl, who he went on a date with; he said that he thinks it's old fashioned. What do you think?

Having manners is never old fashioned. Not only should a man open a door for a woman, but a woman (who is alone) should open a door for an older (elderly) woman or even a woman with children. It's only right.

I wonder what that guy's mom would say? I really hope you're not dating him, he's a loser.

Yes, the guy may be right. Every relationship goes through stages. In the initial stage a guy tries to impress the gal by doing all the gentlemanly things. But slowly they take the gal for granted as the relationship progresses and guy becomes more relaxed. some of the guys think in being equals so none of old fashioned stuff like opeining car door or pulling chair or standing up etc etc. Girls you asked for it when you wanted equal rights so don't expect preferential treatments......

I think that your friend is not ready to date or doesn't know that dating require some manners. Opening the car door for a girl is "traditional" as opposed to "old fashioned". I don't particularly feel that it is always necessary, but to say that it is old fashioned as to why he didn't do it, is not a good reason.

I don't think it's old fashioned at all!
I would love it if a guy opened the car door for me. And it would tell me what kind of person he is. You know what they say: Actions speak louder than words.

No it is not old fashioned. Men will treat us the way we want to be treated. Each man I date knows that the doors should be opened for me, it is just the gentlemanly thing to do.

It is, but it is still sweet. No matter what a guy should do it on the first date.... or sometime when you guys are out. My man never opens the car door for me, but it is all good... I am very capable.

No,please more of that. It's not old fashioned, it's called manners. I have to always ask my husband to open the door for me. When my son does, I praise him.

I think that it is sweet, but girls don't always give the guy a chance before they hop out of the car right away. So in a sense it is old fashion, but of course still appreciated.
