thats cute and really good you're doing something about it. so, you know whats even better than the phone to a girl? actually going somewhere and talking to the girl in person. that gets them everytime...i know because it gets me. it says that you want to get to know them because you like being around them. its good even if you two are friends.

Well, you can talk to her about movies, music, or TV shows. School, friends, sports, whatever it is she does for fun.
Complementing a girl is always a good idea!! Tell her how pretty she looked today, or that you loved the shirt she had on today. (Don't say that about a mini-skirt or a super showy shirt, though.)
As soon as the topic is started, most girls can talk for hours on it.

If you were meant to be close to the girl, then it should come natural. I was with this one guy for a while and he had the same problem that you have with girls and I found it cute and he eventually got over it. Good luck!
