For me this is all about the illegal portion. For me this is about the illegal immigrants who live in my neighborhood, maybe many are decent respectful hard working people, but not if those around me are any indication. You have a good neighborhood with ongoing prosperity where neighbors who you know are illegal, some even admit it,and we spend more time painting over the gang graphitti and picking up the beer bottles out of the street than anything else. And yes because I live in TX my health care rates and insurance rates go up 20% faster than the national average to keep up with non payments at local hospitals and uninsured drivers. And the stats clearly show what the biggest problem is,illegal immigration, once you tell an entire group of people that it's ok for them to break the law what makes anyone think they will obey any laws? Come into the US legally, obey at least the constitutional laws we have, pay the taxes that support our communities and we are just fine. I am by the way only the second generation of my family born in this country and I assure you my grandparents did not act like what I see now when they came here.

America is of course a nation of immigrants, legal or other wise. We are also a nation of indentured servitude and slavery. We are all Americans. At one time my ancestors spoke a different language, gone to me now because we became enculturated. Is America a Land or an idea? How can we respond from a position of territory if AMerica is an idea? Every wave of immigrant has faced ridicule and hatred from the more "settled" immigrants. The Eastern European was hated during the 1920's , whose ancestors went on to hate the chinese some years later. I suspect that in a couple of decades, the Mexicans as they move securley into the middle class, will hate whatever wave comes rolling in. Of course, the one thing that immigrants have in commmon is poverty. Territory and class war------that's what it's all about.

Well Bren, I really don't understand how the US government makes it easy for illegals to buy homes. I'm know this also has to do with everything that is going on with Bank of America, my sister showed me your e-mail. I can't believe how even though you supposedly worked there before now you're saying that they make it easy for illegals to buy homes when you know that is not true. I work there, and just like with any other customer, regardless of their nationality, proper documentation is needed and if they don't have a SS# an ITIN # is required, which as I'm sure you know is a number they use to file taxes. So explain to me, if just like you, they have the same responsibility to pay taxes why can't they have the same right to buy a home?. Also, how easy do you think it is for a person who gets paid minimum wage, or sometimes even less, to buy a house? I think your question makes it sound like illegals have it really easy when it comes to buying property.

Illegals does not mean Mexicans, but the majority of illegals are Mexicans. Yes that is because the US and Mexico our neighbors but it would be the same if China was our neighbor.
It doesn't matter if you are from Mexico, China, Japan, Germany, France or Mars!!! ILLEGAL IS ILLEGAL!!!!!!!!!!!

We're angry that our laws aren't enforced and our schools are swamped and failing. That people then can 'make it easy' to break the law on top of that makes us angry all over.
Mexican isn't the point except that that is where most come from.
The questions I saw about 'a day without Mexicans' were talking about an idiot movie that basically said life here would stop without them because we none of us are able to mow our own lawns. Frankly, I think that isn't only insulting to us, but to Mexicans who actually do hold other sorts of jobs, as well.
It is the illegal ones we want stopped. Wherever they are from.
to Mexican... that bit about welfare is ridiculous. It is as if a theif responded to complaints of his stealing from someone else's bank account by saying that the legal holders of the account take money out too!
OUR people is who the accounts are for.

I agree and disagree. Mexican is not the epitomy of illegal [and thanks for saying something about it] but since when has the U.S. government made it 'easy' for illegal immigrants to buy homes and get health care?

You know what Bren, a day without an Illegal Immigrant would be a day where you go to the emergency room and don't see a bunch of them sitting there getting free healthcare, a day when you take your child to school and you don't see Mexican tags dropping there kids off in an American School, a day where a American who actually needs food stamps and Welfare are qualifying and getting the help they actually need. a day where you as american citizen can go to your local courthouse and apply for a job only to be told I'm sorry, but this is a position only for spanish speaking only, but remind you your in AMERICA. A day where you don't have to pay high property tax on your american land because you are paying for all the illegals in your city. I don't care if you are Mexican, Asian, or from the freakin moon, you are a criminal if your here illegal and thats the bottom line.

Illegal doesn't mean Mexican, I agree. 80% of the illegal population is made up of Mexican citizens. If people refer to illegals as Mexicans, they aren't saying anything wrong or untrue.

its's not the fact that mexicans are mexicans, its about the high volume of mexicans flowing into the u.s.
its about the lack of security and monitoring of immigrants.
how can we have a safe and secure country if we dont start controlling who comes here? just because our government let it go for so long, doesnt mean that we dont have the right to put a stop to it.
gee whiz it its obvious that immigrants are using the u.s to try and get ahead and have a richer life. but no one accuses them of being greedy but thats just what they are. anytime a person chooses to live in another country, means that they dont like the way things are in their own country. so they illegally move to another country and expect to have the same rights as a person who was born or legally immigrated. sure the illegals have to take lower paying jobs, they are illegal!!
and so are the people who hire them.
they have to sneak around and buy illegal documents and screw up our system of security.
even the mexicans who have the legal right to be should be concerned. the illegals are messing things up for everyone.
this country is going to be worthless and a laughing stock to the rest of the world.
close all the borders and force this country to take care of itself and when we are ready, we will allow immigrants to apply for entry and citizenship the correct way.
