FIRE WOULD WORK WELL

A water bottle with 3 parts water and 1 part white vinegar works VERY well on the glue that holds the wallpaper up. It's much easier if you can get the paper off, leaving only the glue. If not your local hardware store sells a product that rolls over the wallpaper and makes little holes on the paper. Spray and go to town!

Steamer works best - but try a mixture of 1/4 liquid fabric softener (like Downy) mixed with 3/4 parts water. Wash on over wallpaper - wait and then begin to peel. The fabric softener softens the glue under the wallpaper!

If it is a vinyl-coated wallpaper, be sure to take the vinyl off first. Do this by catching a corner, pulling it up and then spraying diluted fabric softener or any detergent (not soap) where the vinyl and the backing come together, Keep pulling and spraying until you have al the vinyl off, Now comes the fun part! Spray, scrape and pray. Spray with more of the solution, scrape the soaked backing and pray that the whole mess comes off easily.

I just used Dif Gel to get the border off my bathroom walls. It worked like a dream! Others told me it didn't work, but the gel is new and fantastic. I got a bottle of it at Loews hardware store for like 4 bucks, definately cheaper than renting a steamer. I was really pleased with it. Spray it on and 20 minutes later the wallpaper literally peels right off.

Hi,
Pealing using knifes and blades alone can be very frustrating. Try this:

"Wallwik is the quickest method of wallpaper removal (2 to 3 times quicker than steam and chemical based strippers)

- Eliminates scraping and does NOT damage plaster
Strips up to 6 layers of even the most stubborn paper in one go

- Removes the paper in large pieces or whole sheets, making less mess

- Guaranteed to be quicker, cleaner and easier than any other wallpaper removal product, or your money back! "

There are several methods that I found on the websites below. I have used Downey & water and it seems to work really well. You just need to make sure you have something to score it with so it will penetrate the wallpaper easier. I used it to remove wallpaper border. The only downside to that is that it runs down the wall. I made sure I kept it wiped off to make sure I didn't get streaks. You won't really have to worry about that if your whole wall is wallpapered. Good luck and have fun!

the simplest ways are a gallon of vinegar and a squirt bottle and warm water and a paper tiger then score the wall and spray it twice and then start to scrage it with a couple of differant puttey knivesand as it comes off spray the leading edge to break down the glue the paste now after that wash with a basic dish soap and rinse now use light patching like an air whip with a little water in it to skim coat the gouges or use DIF in the bottle or spray it but its hard to remove the DIF its slick and the paint doesnt want to hold or use a steamer borrow or rent one they work great and have a friend to help so the whole room gets done in one day as to paint have the guys at depot tint the primer like bin or zinzer to two ounces of the finish paint thats a good base for the color for dark colors have it done as dark gray as the primer and use a good glidden paint like evermore ive painted for 27 years and done a lot of finishes an olde dude

Go to home depot. You buy a scoring tool. Roll the tool all over the affected area. You also buy some soapy solution that you roll on after you score the wall paper. It soaks in through the pinholes you just scored. After an hour it peels off the wall on its own.

Cheap, fast, easy solution.

Less than $20 in most cases and no hassle. Ive used it a number of times.

Steaming it would work best but if you cannot afford to do that a cheaper way to do it is to spray the wallpaper with vinegar or warm water (vinegar is better). Give it a minute and then scrape it off with a putty knife.
