Christians are sometimes stereotyped for the Crusades (when a lot of non Christians were killed) this however was not a Christian act but an act of some noble men with money and power! In the Bible it teaches us to love our enemies!
In the Qu,ran (Koran) it teaches of love too!
Muslims are probably the most stereotyped because of the instability in some Muslim countries (there is also a lot of instability in non-muslim countries too) probably because of the Americans and British getting too high and mighty (well thinking they are!). These people who attacked the twin towers or blow themselves up..are not Muslims, they cannot say they are because it teaches love and it has been said that jihad is a fake not written in the original koran (but a could be wrong). I just wanted to no why people stereotype faiths? Are they feeling insecure about themselves or their path in life or what??

If you think about it, you are also stereotyping, but according to what you believe.

I am a Christian, and whether I like it or not, the Crusades were undoubtedly carried out in the name of Christianity. The Inquisition, where many people suffered, is another example of Christians committing horrible acts upon other human beings. If we want to educate people about Christianity, we must be honest and say that these things were wrong and a distortion of Christianity. There are many Christians today who believe that the death penalty is right, that it is permissible to invade Iraq (Bush is a Christian) etc. etc.

The teachings of Jesus Christ, Our Saviour, are easy to hear but difficult to follow. If we want to show what Christianity is, we must each act it out in our own lives to be an example to those who have yet to find Him.

This is a typical religious arguement, nonsensical and wrong, the crusades were preached by religious lunatics ie the Popes, people who did not conform to these lunatics ways and views were murdered by religous zealots as witches, heretics, atheists. Whole nations were enslaved by religious lunatics of every creed I am not just picking on Christians, all religions have at some time or another preached that unbelievers should be exterminated so dont come this rot.

Non-believers can see people of faith as intellectually inadequate (stupid), lacking of common sense and prone to believe every theory that comes along. They see their non-belief as evidence of their mental fortitude and ability to see past the 'lies' that entrapped their ancestors into lives that revolved around superstitions.

Now then, I have one question for you. Do I honestly sound academically substandard (stupid)? Yet, strangely, I have been a born again Christian for 24 years (I'm 41 now) and my colleagues get warned that I may get on their nerves as I go on and on and on about ... the latest scientific theory. Do you know, I was giving a new colleague The Talk ("Tell me to shut up when you've had enough.") yesterday and discovered that she didn't know that Pluto had been downgraded. Do people not take notice of the news?

Anyway, I digress. It's human nature to want to feel superior to someone or something and to think that your beliefs are the more true than those around you and at this stage in human existance, people of a non-sectarian bent feel as though they have the edge over believers and with some - though not all - this seems to give them the permission to stereotype those they see as clinging to past superstitions.

You forgot to mention one of the most popular "stereo types"......and that is of the Witch, be they Pagan, Wiccan, Druid, Traditional, Dianic, Eclectic....whatever we follow, we are cast as the typical stereo-typed Witch, and that is only due to peoples ignorance of what our beliefs actually mean, and that is the same as many other religions too. AS for the British getting to "high n mighty" or thinking they are, as in many things, the minority spoil it for the majority, and i would say this about many countries, not just us Brits and Americans!. I personally do not stereotype any religion, i just let people get on with thier beliefs, and i wish many would also do the same. People have stereo-typed me, but i just cackle at them, and say "i'll get you my pretty and your lil dog too", lol!. It doesn't bother me, and i can take the mickey out of myself, but it would be nice to know that people have an understanding of different religions before judging and labelling.
Blessings

What really worries me about Muslims is the statement one leader said. "The Islam flag will hang in Washington DC".
We should be concerned over these radical terrorists, especially when the liberals get control. The liberals don't have a clue that Islam is getting ready to claim the USA as their own territory. Time to wake up and smell the nukes.

i won't be able to say whether that is wong or not, yet I do it too, sometimes, although not as much as while i replaced right into a misanthropic, delinquent teenager. via the way, lemmings are transforming into a undesirable rap. Disney videos helped perpetuate that previous delusion approximately them working into the sea in mass drowining ever various years. We damaging human beings are plenty extra self detrimental than those little rodents.

Because people with faith follow blindly. they have to fit within the rules of their religion. So the stereotype actually comes very close to the reality!

Are you sure you are not mirroring you own view ?

Because I and many people I know do not stereotype people with faith and do not look down on them.

Is it possible that you do (conscious or sub-conscious) and therefore think that everybody else does?

Religion doesnt kill people, people kill people, and what we need to realize is that the people who attacked the twin towers didnt do it because we are christians, or catholics or muslims. They did it because we are Americans. People tend to forget that and look for somone to blame. Muslims are taking the heat for it.

Using rational thought we can see that those who believe in a god are delusional. Prayer is scientifically proven not to work. When we see people talking to themselves it is hard not to stereotype them as crazy. Just because the religious person claims to be talking to god this is no exception, you are talking to yourself.
