I have an almost two year old golden retriever. We call him Jack. We were also thinking about the name Chuckie. My brother also thought MOOSE would be a good name lol.

I always take a name for my pets based on their personality
example
i have a dog named Brutis because when he was a puppy he would run through the house and slam into anything in his way. I'd say "You are such a brut" hence he got the name Brutis
Enjoy your puppy

Congratulations! I love the name kelpto (it means theif) but I have always loved it. For a name you really love though it always feels wonderful to come up with it yourself. Perhaps something that has happened since you got the puppy? street signs, store names, etc. It sounds dumb but I like to close my eyes then open them and the first object I see I take the name mess with it and use it. How about yahoo? (hah)

Think about some of his personality traits or activities that you particularly like. Then determine if you like 'macho' names like Duke or Butch or if you prefer 'designer' names like Saxon or Chance. Then google "puppy names" and go to one of those websites to peruse some ideas. Once you have thought about these things he will almost name himself. Just love him and get to know him before you decide on the final one. He still young enough for you to practice a couple of names on him until the ONE sticks just because it's perfect for him.
Have fun! I just got a maltese/shih tzu mix female puppy and that's how she named herself Mimi Amore'. And she is "my love".

remember you should base your puppy's name on their personality if he's a big tough dog then i recommend Dane or Connor if he's just a big furry ball of love i recommend Sammy or Buddy
