We have a boston terrier which we raised from a puppy... we found the best thing to do at first is to make sure the puppy gets enough playtime before bed. And if you are crate training cover the puppies crate with some blankets so it is dark... they tend to go to sleep better because its warm and toasty. Also if you are running to the puppy everytime it cries , it knows how to get your attention all the time... sometimes they need to cry it out and realize you aren't going to answer everytime.

Crate train your puppy if he isn't already....and like a previous answer said, make sure he gets plenty of excercise during the day.

The real trick is not backing out of or down from what ever method you choose. My Smart Puppy by Brian Kilcommons and Sarah Wilson is a great book that addresses a lot of puppy problems and I use it all the time.

Doggies are pack animals and want to be with their pack so taking them away from their mother and siblings and their cozy den is very tramatic for them. Spend lots of play time with your pup before bedtime. Have a routine so your puppy knows "ok now it's time to go out and then to sleep" Doggies love their creates especially as they get older and need their own space to get away from it all, to take a nap, chew a bone or just have some quite time. Also remember puppies are like babies and may need to go out during the night, but will not want to dirty their "den". Some people dont allow food or water after a certain time to help with this. I dont subscribe to this train of thought and always have water available to my pets. The ticking clock and fuzzy toy are all good advice also. Best thing yet is if you have another pet for your pup to cozy up with. Their wont be any crying but you'll have to be extra alert to movement because the puppy will still need to learn the finer points of housebreaking.

get a crate. buy a couple of inexpensive receiving blankets or just a towel. Rub the towel over your arms so it smells like you. put it in the crate. The puppy will start to sleep in the crate after a few nights.

Mine is a year and a half so I know your woes. Either you tire him/her out throught the day, Leave a radio on low so he/she feels like there is someone in the room with them or just try your best to ignore it. I know it's hard but if you keep getting up it's going to keep crying because now it knows how to signal you. You should be in the clear in about another 2 months to a full year. Hang in there, the baby "pains" are almost over!!!!!

Ah.. cute little guy... you could let him sleep with you. Or give him his own bed in your room with a clock wrapped in a towel. What is all this 'crate training'? How would you people like it if someone put you alone in a steal cage at night? Ghessh..

Make sure he gets plenty of good exercise thru the day to help to tire him out. Crate train him, if he can't get out to get into things, or wander around he is more likely to sleep.

I don't know if this works but I was once told to put a ticking clock in its bed. Apparently it reminds him of sleeping with his mother. I realize that some of the clocks don't make a ticking noise, so good luck.
