Gen.1:1,2;
The book began with all in existance, it does not say how many billions of years.
Gen.1:3-25; All days in preparation of the earth and all that is in it until it is perfect will be the length as the last day and in the last day [ day of God and not man ], Gen.2:2,4; Heb.4:1-12; God rest from creating. 2Pet.3:8 and Rev.20:1-6,12,13 [ NO SATAN 1000 YEARS ]; So after Satan has 6,000 years in days seven, Jesus has the last 1000 years. HE MAKES ALL AS PERFECT AS IT WAS BEFORE EDEN. 2Pet.3:13; Rev.21:1-5;

Eph.3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto sons of men, as it is now revealed unto the holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit: and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the the beginning of the world has been hid in God [ for Gentiles to be saved ], who created all things by Jesus Christ. col.1:26; Even the mystery which has been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifeast to saints. Eph.2:7; That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 3:21; Unto him be glory in the church of Christ Jesus

If you take the account in Genesis - the entire universe was 6 days - the 7th he did nothing.

I'm one of the Christians that don't believe in a the literal day. By simple logic, a day is the time it takes for the earth to revolve once on it's axis - if the earth didn't exist, then that relative timing could not also have existed. I believe the translation is not as much day in the sense "Tomorrow is a day away" but rather "remember back in the day". Language is too confusing to be taken literally. We should be thankful that the Bible is more poetic in nature rather than a dissertation that reads like a legal brief.

I always point out that the creation of the universe/world is only a couple of sentences - whereas how we should treat one another is more dominant a theme - especially in the New Testament.

What amazes me is that god could create all the animals in one day. All the plants in one day, but it took a whole day just to create man. I mean, if we are in his "own image" how hard could it have been?

And, did "adam" look just like god? I mean, say a twin minus the "powers"? So, if god was a pudgy little guy, slightly overweight, with a hairy back, did Adam look like that? Then there's eve? Was she hot? And, if Adam was a the little pudgy guy I described, and eve was hot, would she have had anything to do with him? What would have happened if she wouldn't "hook up" with adam? How would the species have carried on? You always here the saying "not even if we were the only two people on earth?" What if eve had said that?

And, if god is all powerful, why would he have to rest after he did all this?

Now I am really confused. lol

The problem with Seven days for creation is; the literal reading of the scriptures.

Remember that man invented time. God has no time and always was and always will be. Time as we know it is; revolving around and facing the Sunlight.

Man's ancient belief was skewed and was based on his knowledge of what he believed he knew which is waaaaaaaaaay ancient to the 21st century and the intellects that we have evolved into today's theological interpreters of those times.

Know the truth and only the truth that is really needed to believe the scripture for the day you are in right now; God made the first spark that began life as we know it. God knows when and how long it took and how long it took for intelligent man and woman to evolve. Our only need is to believe that God started it and we are here and he made us because he believes in us. There is no other gods only,One- Triune( Father, Son and Holy Spirit)-God.

Genesis don't go into fine detail about the creation of the earth and the universe. The importance of Genesis is the creation of man and fall from grace.

The earth wasn't created, however it took about (13.7 - 4.5) billion years or about 9.2 billion years for it to form.
