I saw some other people asking about itchy tattoo's but they were not the same kind of thing. My tattoo is fairly new, bout 4 months old. Unfortunatly, it was a home tattoo ( though done by a professional whom i trust) my ONLY symptom is that it itches. I know if it turns red or pink it is a sign of infection, but that never happends. JUST the itchy, which is short lived, but intense. Normally i put creme on it, and while im rubbin it in, it helps. But shortly after it itches again. I'm doubting the possibility of infection, anyone else have a solution other then creme and going to the Doctors ( which im going to do in a weeks time if i have had another incident by then)

All I know about itchy tatoo's is that your suppose to slap them, not scratch at them. It takes most tatoo's a good six months to heal to 100%.

You need to be using something that adds moisture and helps with healing to the area. Something that I use is Aquaphor. When using this I have no scabbing or itching. You can find it in the health and beauty department. It is around $7.00 to $8.00. You only need to put a very thin layer on. Use it two to three times a day till healed. Also remember that it takes a good 6 months for a tattoo to heal complete.

I have a year and a half old tattoo on my foot that still itches. I've never put anything on it, but I can tell you that my husband has a scar that perpetually itches and he puts Vaseline on it everyday. It seems to help. He's also used regular Chapstick, believe it or not. You could try an over-the-counter cortisone cream, but follow the instructions and stop after seven days as cortisone can thin the skin if over-used.

Tattoos and piercings are self inflicting wounds. If you've ever been hurt you know that when things start to heal, they itch..but its a sure sign of healing. Try not to scratch it (due to messing up the tattoo with scarring)..just keep the cream on it and you should be fine. Hope this helps.

I'd suggest moisturizing it a little better. Maybe that's why it's so itchy.
