You probably have an infection. An antibiotic ointment like Neo-sporin or Bacitration can help it get better. Dip your earring post in it, so it coats your pierced hole.
I am allergic to metals, and often used to get infected in my ear piercings. I found that I can wear earrings that are NICKEL Free. You can ask for Nickel free earrings in stores. I learned about it at JC Penney. I think Kmart and other stores should know about this also. They are not too expensive. I learned that many people are allergic to nickel, which is in most metals. Don't just buy any cheap earrings.
I have heard of people who are unable to wear any earrings at all because of metal allergies, but give it time to heal.
I suggest trying nickel free earrings.

I get this problem quite a lot and what I do is first clean the ear-lobe well with an alcohol wipe (like the ones they use in hospital when taking a blood sample), then dip the leg of the earring in Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream (like you put on babies' bottoms when they have a nappy rash - it contains zinc oxide) and make sure the zinc oxide goes right into the hole when you put the earing in. This really works for me. Use it even when you have no infection and it will prevent one starting.

Keep it clean with a soap like triclosan (Dial antibacterial soap has it as an ingredient). Do not use hydrogen peroxide because it acts as a debreeding agent and will hurt tender new skin. If it gets very red, hot, puss (infected) you should go to a doctor! Get on some antibiotics!

Here is the problem with infections: Attempting to diagnose and treat what TYPE of infection it is is likely beyond your scope of knowledge. If you allow an infection to enter your "Bloodstream", you may become Septic. Sepsis/Septic shock can kill you. Don't be foolish...have it seen by an MD.

use plenty of peroxide to keep it clean, sanitize your earrings in this also. don't wear jewelry in your ears until it clears up. try to stop touching it, you will only be reconaminating.
