King James

(1 Corinthians 14:34) Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

(1 Corinthians 14:35) And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

1 Timothy 2:11-15 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. (12) But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. (13) For Adam was first formed, then Eve. (14) And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. (15) Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

Women also had power in the old testament. Deborah was a Judge in Israel and a Prophetess.

The first person to preach Jesus and Him risen was a woman. (Mary Magdalene).

Dont start quoting the bible!!!

For every quote you can find there will be at least another one to contradict it.

Your question needs a little clarification to makes sense.
1st - if you are refering to the male domination of women in terms of the BIBLE then well I doubt there are many women that follow that path at all now.
If however this is more about womensopinion regarding male dominance in life then thats a different answer.

Of course the fact that males still tend to dominate women is (in part) a throwback to dumb phrases like those you mentioned.

Only trouble is, where I see women asking to be equal, more often than not they want to be MORE equal.
Typical eh..

Still I will continue to support equality in all areas of my life where I experience it.

Just a shame that the good men of this world are almost always put into the oppressive bracket regardless, there by perpetuating the same crime in reverse.

No, the Bible passages you refer to do not agree with today's viewpoint. These are some that quite frankly I think come more from man than they do God because it does not speak of love or kindness but only to obedience etc. Sounds like the old Jewish stand on women being property of their father and husband which I know is not God's way. If you will read the directions to men and women regarding their marriages you will see an entirely different picture. Although wives are to be submissive to the husbands decisions, he must be submissive to God and always think of his wife before himself. That is a pretty tall order but if a man fulfills it, no woman would have a complaint.

No. today's society demands a woman stay silent so that men can stay in power. The Church in Corinth was dealing with an issue of women interrupting the church service with questions that should have waited until afterwards. How would you like it if you were interrupted every time you spoke? You shouldn't take verses out of context. If you're going to quote one part of the bible you should put it in the context of the rest of the bible. To answer your question, no, the bible does not reflect the world's attitude today as it says to the men, "men, love your wives as the Lord loved the church and gave himself for her." We are called to die to ourselves, our pride and flesh, to love our wives. Do you see the men of this world doing that? No. Keep reading the bible until you understand the whole thing, not just a part that you got confused on.

I dont' believe women should be pastors---the Bible tells us they should not be in charge over men, that includes a congregation. But I do believe they can lead a womens bible study, or teaching.
I do not think anyone speaks out in church at all...and I do ask my husband questions at home. I always have questions or revelations regarding God's word- and I love to discuss it!
We should be submissive to our husbands--this still stands.
Ways were different back then yes--but today has become so out of hand with the whole women's lib thing. I do not agree that the woman should "wear the pants in the family"--but that the husband should be the leader in the home, and a spiritual leader at that!--that He should be submitting to God as he leads his family.

Yes, I blame the Bible for the subjugation of women. The Genesis story was contrived to put the blame for all the world's problems on women, just like the story of Pandora's box.

The HolyBible can only prove one thing: That women are "torn" between feeling joyful, happy and carefree, to now feeling wrathful,bitter and dumbfounded. It proves that they are really meant to follow clear good instructions, rather than lead a whole world to certain {FALLOUT}

Watch all the Christians blow it all off as "changing times", yet completely ignoring that we are in "changing times" now for the homosexual community. Amusing.

No, the bible still supports the subjugation of women. Remember, the Christians just ignore the parts of the bible they don't like when they feel like it, or they say "its taken out of context".
