When people say where to buy a bb gun they say Walmart but listen up, I would also reccomend these fine sites and/or stores! Walmart is just a super store, but places like Dunhams, Cabelas, Dicks Sporting Goods, and Bass Pro Shops are "experts" when it comes to any kind of guns. And I would reccomend getting a Daisy BB Gun, I have one and it's great!(this is my bb gun) And I got mine at Bass Pro Shops! Follow the link and my gun is at the very bottom
http://www.daisymuseum.com/shopping/products.asp?CategoryId=1
and here is Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Ryder_BB_Gun
Bass Pro Shops (I would reccomend a Daisy Backyard shooting kit, Price: $99.99, and it does come with a BB gun) and I know the link is messed up so what you have to do is search it on their site (type it in for yourself without my help!) instead of just skipping this site!
http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.s...
Cabelas
http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/index/index-display.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/subcategory/subcategory-index.jsp.1_A&_DAV=search_redir&returnPage=&rid=&returnQueryString=&navAction=push&navCount=1&parentId=&id=cat20742&cmCat=search_redir
Amazon.com ( I put in Daisy bb guns because if you just put in BB guns then you also get airsoft guns!)
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_/002-4405195-7633652?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Daisy+bb+guns
Dunhams
http://www.dunhamssports.com/family/inde...
Dicks Sporting Goods

And here is a list of sites too (if this doesn't work then go on Daisy.com and click on where to buy)

There are many factors when trying to find the right Airgun. My first BB Gun was a Tanfoglio Witness 1911 from KWC. Very realistic with blowback, full metal design, and all the aspects of a real Colt 1911. That's what I was looking for, realism. The gun itself is below many other guns in that price range in terms of performance. The Tanfoglio Witness 1911 seems to be more for collectors, but is still very, very accurate, and is VERY realistic. I would recommend it!

Crossman and Daisy both make some really good air-gus, and most of the pump up models shoot bb's and pellets. I just don't like how much plastic that the Daisy has in their guns now day, but they're still a good gun. I like the Benjamin/Sheridan pellet guns the best as far as a "pump" style air rifle, but the aren't for beginners... they are pretty powerfull air rifles. There are also several "lever style" air rifles out there that are very good, I don't really like the breakover style, where you use the barrel as the cocking lever. I prefer the ones with a fixed barrel and a seperate cocking lever.

Beanbag is write, they are dangerous... anything that hurles a projectile from 400-600 fps is dangerous, but the same could be said for slingshots too. My sons have both, and I promise they can do far more damage with a slingshot and a marble or rock than they can with they're bb guns. Be safe and responsible, treat it with the respect you would give any firearm as far as safety is concerned, and go have some fun!

The best BB gun i ever had was a benjamen single shot air pump rifle. When i had i would shoot full grown squirrels out of trees with just five pumps. If you want to find it on the internet and read about it what it says on there is true it will probably cost you around 150.00 for a real good one.

Not sure on the cost in £ but for under $200 USD you can get alot of good guns. my recommendations are for Pneumatic: Benjamin Sheridan in .177, Spring Piston: a Beeman or an RWS Diana, CO2 I'd omit completely unless you want to spend more money on a constant air gun cause the 12 gram cartridges are an unneccesary expense and they don't deliver consistent power.

Me and my housemates had BB guns at uni. We lived in a house with a massive lounge so we'd put Saving Private Ryan on TV with the volume up loud and then hide behind the sofas shooting eachother- 2-a-side. I had a Glock 17L and they all said my shots hurt most. In fact I drew blood a couple of times. Probably the most powerful BB gun you can get before you cause hospital wounds. It's really accurate too. I remember one time that my housemate was in the kitchen and every time he tried to take a glass out of the cupboard, I shot it and it smashed. Brilliant!
Go for the Glock 17L. It only cost me about £20 and was amazing fun.

No, I cannot recommend a good BB gun. What I do know is that they can be extremely dangerous. My Nephew was lucky enough to have a shot from a BB gun miss his eye by the narrowest of margins and retained his eyesight. I hope that your use of a BB gun is extremely well organised and monitored in order to maintain a safe environment for everyone in the area.

Get a 'soft-air' BB gun, especially if you haven't shot much before. They're comparable in accuracy, but will do a lot less damage, assuming that you're just interested in 'plinking' and not shooting up the neighborhood.

I am assuming you are in the UK based on your use of pounds for currency, I am not very familiar with UK laws on airguns, but if you can find and/or buy one I would suggest an Air Master 77 (AM77) made by Remington.
