One problem that many many people have is that they are of the mindset that everyone "thinks" on the same plane with the same emotional mindset as everyone else. Sometimes I answer these questions with contempt or humor or satire, etc just because I think that is how the people posting them are presenting; I've been wrong a few times.
Nobody that is truly a citizen of this country would wish harm on their fellow countrymen, not if they were in a rational state of mind but I read on here all the time how "Bush should be hanged, shot, locked up" or how "the US soldiers are murdering, raping, torturing Iraqi's". I know these are just comments from people that are frustrated, or unhappy or crying out for shock value type attention.
The problem is, many people have emotions that run deep and these emotional ranting actually hurt them. People that have lost loved ones in this conflict are not going to feel the same way about satire that pokes fun at the situation as somebody that sits in the security of their home and is trying to be clever. This is the type of humor that would better serve you as a class clown where you can laugh and say; hey I was JUST JOKING; see how funny death can be if you're not involved.

If you have ever been to a military funeral where there were idiot people screaming crap at the person being honored for their service you wouldn't think that your previous comments were a joke. We will just hang out and wait till you die or someone in your family dies and make a joke of it and see if you think it is funny or maybe a lot disrespectful. Military folks are family to each other even if they don't personally know each other. Losing your life for something we believe in is honorable regardless of what people like you think. Try thinking before typing/opening your mouth. Not all "jokes" are going to be funny in all situations.

That's not funny at all. Lighten up? LIGHTEN UP?
Clearly, you are a civilian who has never lost anyone in the war. However, here at this board, there are many of us who have lost friends and still mourn their loss.
Death isn't funny. Protesting at a funeral isn't funny. Like another poster said, KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE. Save that crap for your MySpace page.
You're a very ignorant human being.

You may think that the topic of protesting at a soldier's funeral is funny, but the rest of us don't.
And if that's what you call "having a sense of humor," then I'm glad I don't have one like that.

Sorry, but I don't get your sense of humor. Jokes about anyone's death or funeral are insensitive, at best. We need to honor our fallen soldiers, whether you agree with the Commander in Chief or not. They're doing a job I'd never be able to, and I respect them and their families.

I have attended several funerals of our fallen men in the past year. This past summer in Seaford, Delaware the group of inbred haters from Topeka, KS (Westboro Baptist 'church') was there with their signs of THANK GOD FOR DEAD SOLDIERS, THANK GOD FOR IEDS, GOD HATES AMERICA. And you thought you were funny! Well, the local people didn't think Fred Phelps' family was very funny because some of them punched one of the UGs (uninvited guest), busted the window of their van and the UGs had to high tail it out of town before they were dragged from their van. Unfortunately, the Patriot Guard Riders are not allowed to even acknowledge the presence of the UGs. The PGR attend (invited) the funerals of our fallen soldiers to show honor and respect to the military person and his/her family and to stand for those who have stood for us.
I was probably one of those who took your sick humor to task.
You want to see hatred, do a google.com search on WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH or FRED PHELPS or SHIRLEY PHELPS. I guarantee it will turn your stomach.

some people quit school because of being told to play at recess, ME? play.?I dont play
But i would fight to the death for your right to make a fool out of yourself
But not at a family funeral
The street is where you protest with others in a proper manner
I would like to see a million people in front of the white house
holloring and screaming and carrying signs,

Didn't see your original posting & I don't doubt you didn't mean anything by it. I'm 100% against the war in Iraq but nothing could have sickened me more than seeing those things , I beleve they are from KS, protesting at a solders funeral, saying he will burn in he!! etc. It was enough to make your flesh crawl. Had I read the original I may have re-acted the same way. Humour is subjective, but as I say, you didn't do it to hurt, but as a point of black humour. I'm guilty of doing the same thing, but be careful of your subject and audience.

YOU KNOW WHAT? THAT IS NOTHING TO JOKE ABOUT! AMERICA AND THEIR CITIZENS ARE IN A VERY BIG STATE WITH THE WAR. WE DO HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR JUST NOT LIKE THAT. YOU NEED TO SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR OUR NATION AND THOSE SOLDIERS THAT ARE FIGHTING FOR OUR COUNTRY AS WELL AS OUR VETERANS THAT HAVE FOUGHT AND HAVE BEEN KILLED IN THE WAR!

There are so many varied "view points" on this site. At least when you make a "joke" like that you should put a little smiley face at the end or something like that. Don't you think?
