It's safe, as long as you take reasonable precautions. Nothing should go in your tent if it smells even remotely like food. Do all your cooking, eating, tooth brushing, etc.. well away from the tent (usual guidelines say 100 yards away). To be extra safe, have pajamas or sleeping clothes and don't eat while you are wearing them. You might also avoid un-necessary lotions and perfumes - to make sure you don't smell like food. Getting or renting a bear proof food cannister doesn't hurt, but most tent sites have food poles.

Since you're camping in bear country you really have to follow the rules perfectly including the one about not being in bear country if you or a member of your group is menstruating. Is it 100% safe ? No but the risk is reasonable enough that you can do it.
I always approached the problem from this point of view; " I am dealing with basically a very dumb animal, the only way that i can get really messed by that dumb animal is to be a dumber animal " Your intelligence is your advantage -use it.

I think it's ok to go camping in a place where you can go camping in Yellowstone. Don't just camp anywhere. Also, don't leave anything scented in your tent, such as deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, food, etc. Animals, esp. bears, like those things and will come around your tent.

Well nothing is 100% safe no matter how careful you are, you still can be attacked by a bear, a psycho murderer or a rapist. Just remember you were warned if you wake up in the middle of the night being eaten alive.

You will be fine, I used to live in Cody. I camped a lot. The only people getting attacked by bears are people walking up to them and ******* with them.

As long as you store your food in sealed containers and don't keep it in your tent, you should be OK.
