sit-ups and crunches have no effect on fat loss in the mid-section. you can't spot reduce fat stores through diet or exercise, it's physiologically impossible...

You will certainly lose weight quickly while fasting on water....However, once you begin to eat again you will gain it back quickly, especially if you retain prior bad eating habits.
Fasting can be very healthy and cleansing for the body though. Before you go into a fast, eat mostly salads and veggies a few days prior to starting it. I would think about trying a juice fast first, or inbetween water days.

Situps will not flatten your stomach without cutting back on caloric intake. Bottom line is, for your body to shrink you have to burn more calories than you consume...no matter what method of diet you use. Plus, situps will firm and shape ab muscles for sure, but if your abs are covered with a layer of fat you won't be able to see the results. You could even build up your ab muscles and appear thicker in the middle if you don't incorportate a healthy diet along side your excercise.

Nope that will definately not work. Sit ups, while a pretty decent ab working exercise, really dont do much to get rid of stomach fat. The best suggestion I can give you is to combine cardio excercises like jogging or biking with strength training using weights. Also, do not stop eating foods because this will actually make it harder to loose the fat. Instead of eating 3 meals a day, space out your meals to 6 small meals a day. This way you keep your metabolism running at a peak rate, which will burn more fat when you are not working out. Also, try to eat heathy foods rather than fatty and sugar filled foods. The only way to get rid of that gut is to excercise at least 3 times a week and to eat right. Check the link below for a good article to get you motivated!

Sounds like you are headed for trouble. You will only make yourself sick. Then, you may not be able to do any sit ups.
10 sit ups a day is a good start.
Why can't you start off by cutting your portions of food in half? You will see a big difference.

Giving up soda should help you lose weight. There is no way to spot-reduce your fat, you need to lose weight all over. Sit-ups tighten the muscle but don't melt the fat on top of the muscle.

Yes, but as well as the possiblility of making yourself ill, as soon as you eat food again you will put it back on. Keep to a sensible diet and exercise regularly to loose weight/tone up safely...

wont really do much, because if you starve yourself, your body will survive off of your muscle mass "use it as nutrients"
adn you want mroe muscle mass than fat mass, so you should eat a balanced diet but reduce your caloric intake
