I'm sorry you and your pet are living with these problems. Consult with your vet for meds that can reduce the frequency of seizures and a diet that is easier for your dog to metabolize. At some point you may need to make a decision about the quality of life your dog is living vs pain. Good luck

Yes, for both instances you should be seeing your vet regularly...both are dangerous to your dog. My dog was in the early stages of kidney failure and we went to a vet who does acupuncture and herbs...after quite a long process and many visits to the vet, he is now showing no signs whatsoever. It is truly important to find a vet that you trust and that you are seeing results with. The kidney failure, depending on what stage you are in can be managed with a change in diet (vet recommended depending on the blood levels BUN..Creatnine and Phosphorus) as well as fluids. As far as the seizures go, most vets will want to put your dog on Phenylbarbitol and you truly should discuss how this process' through the kidneys and how much strain this puts on the kidneys. Either way, you need to see your vet about all of this. If you do not see a holistic vet, you may consider seeking one out.

I am so sorry to hear about your doggie. Consult the vet as to your options. My dog was having seizures for the last 3 yrs of her long life. They werent very frequent til the last yr. We put her on meds that made her stumble around and doped up. I took her off them after 6 weeks so she would have quality not quanity. She deserved that and the vet gave us valium to admin during a seizure so she wouldnt have muscle aches and spasms after. She did not have a kidney problem. She had a brain tumor.

when my cat went into kidney failure he just kept drinking so much water and would just pee everywhere. he was in so much pain i had to put him down. it was the hardest thing i've ever done and to this day i still cry about it. you need to ask your vet if your dog's kidney problems and seizures can be treated. if they can't, things will just get worse for your dog so you might want to consider all options.

Talk to a vet, he'll give you the best advice. But I think for seizures it's like human seizures and you just have to wait it out.

I don't know what treatment your dog is receiving for kidney failure if any,I suppose if you wanted he could be placed on dialysis, but my friend's dog had seizures and was prescribed phenobarbital which he was on for about three years.
I wish you dog improved health.
