It seems to be so, according to 2 different sources who work for DSE (PrideFC parent company) that the Fertitta have purchased PrideFC (including assests, fighter contracts, and rights to all footage) for $65 million (which Ed Fisherman who was also interested in buying PrideFC said is just over what he had offered). However it is still just a rumor until an official announcement is made which is expected as early as tuesday March 27th but personally expect them to put it off until Ultimate Fight Night 9 or UFC 69.

It's really all about buying the rights for promotion and the contracts for these fighters. The UFC though has bought out some other smaller companies. I think that the buy-out of Pride though would lower the level of competition in Pride.

At this point it is just a rumor. However PRIDE was severely hurt by losing its tv contracts in Japan due to the company's yakuza ties. It is unlikely that they will be able to keep paying their fighters at the level they have been. I wouldn't be suprised if they don't sell out soon, whether to the UFC of another party.

UFC pres has stated that he's interested in buying pride. He also said that the fight cards will not change, pride will stay the same and remain a japanese fight card and UFC will remain the way it is as well. We'll see.

Nothing seems to be for sure just yet. I think Pride is making some kind of announcement today, but it may have nothing to do with a buyout.
