I sometimes mix in the wet Iams food packs in with my dogs dry food. I heard about the recall on last Friday 3/16. She had last eaten it on Wednesday (3/14) and not since then. It has been a week and she is showing no signs of being sick, she is very active, no vomit and eating fine.

She is also about 50lbs. (17months old) I called the Vet and they said to look for those things wrong (vomit, lethargic, etc). Is it safe to not worry about it anymore? I obviously wil not give her anything but dry food again.

I acutally just cheked the numbers that are listed on the Iams website and they do not match the ones on her box of food packets. So her most recent box is ok. (Still not going to feed it to her obviously). But she has eaten at least one other box in the past two months that i can remember and we cant check those numbers obviously. Well, just have keep a close eye but she seems as good as always.

I fed all my cats the wet Iams, and I saw that one box I had not used yet was part of the recall. So far, my cats are fine, although on Monday 3/19 two of them vomited; that was the day I heard about the recall, and I was totally freaked out, and talked with my vet. They seem fine now, no vomiting, no lethargy, but I would continue to watch your pet. I also stopped feeding wet or canned pet food, and will stick to dry and tuna, which they love. I figure if it is made fit for humans, they can eat it. If anything happens with tuna, we will be sure to know right away! But don't worry, I am sure your pet will be fine, and I totally understand your concern. Also, just so you know, when animals are sick, you can really tell, they stop all activity, they won't eat, etc. You will know, and that is when you call your vet. Take care!

She should be fine. I just got a new puppy Monday(8 weeks old), and I was mixing Eukanuba canned food with his dry food so he will eat it because he is finicky...Plus, the breeder told me to since he is so small and that is what they were feeding them...(he is the runt, plus he is a Chihuahua and he is TINY...His head is the size of a golf ball if that helps) Then I came on here and saw the recall...I stopped feeding it to him as of today(I was scared he might get sick since he is so young)...he had a little bit yesterday...but he likes the dry stuff that is soggy from adding water. He isn't showing any signs of being sick at all...He is so happy go lucky and playful....

Hi,
If you are worried about the Iams food, go to this website, www.petmedicinechest.com. They have wonderful products that can detox your dog and clease the kidneys, liver and other vital organs. I have used the Hematox for my own "fur kid" and she is is back to her old self. I also recommend the Pro-Bac (canine formula), which is a great probiotic. I take one every day for good health (a healthy digestive system will boost the immune system) and the same rule applies for our fur kids. As for good, holistic quality canned food, log on to www.naturalpet.com. They have the best dry and canned food around. Our "fur kid" loves it!!! She is the picuture of health. Let me know if I can assist you with any other questions. Stay away from the commercial or "premium" pet foods, including the dry food. Any food that says "meat by-products" and loaded up with corn, or wheat fillers should be avoided.

I know what you mean! I feed my dogs the NUTRO canned fod the night before the recall came out. My vet actually called me to warn me. No signs of anything wrong but I did retur a case and 1/2 of the Nutro canned food. Now I'm cooking for my dogs. They still eat the dry NUTO but I'm so worried. I did call NUTRO and they assure me that the dry is just fine. The do not use Menu Foods to make their dry foods.

There is still a possiblity that she could have mild kidney damage from eating this food. Most vets are recommending testing the kidney functions of animals who have eaten the contaminated food. It can take up to a year for a dog who has had kidney damage to actually affect them--we have had personal experience with this.

To be on the safe side, you may want to make an appointment with your vet to have your dog's kidney functions checked.

Another sign to look for is if she starts drinking copious amounts of water and urinating more frequently than usual if you notice this, take her to the vet and have him run a urinalysis and a complete blood count.
