depends on the size of the wire and the amount of current going through it. but only a small wire can hurt alittle if the puppy chews on it and by the way you spelt shock wrong

If the puppy was chewing on a cord, a shock could easily charge through the body and stop the heart. Reflexes only work on small shocks, like a static charge, for instance. A high current shock would basically paralyze you. This is why if anyone is ever being electrocuted, you can't touch them. You have to either cut off the source or break their connection with something non conductive.
You touching the cord was much less of a shock compared to your puppy touching it.

I'm sorry for your loss but yes that could kill a puppy. If you decide to get another dog you need to puppy-proof your house, just like you would baby-proof for a small child. Electrical wires should be out of reach or covered so the pup can't chew them. You also need to keep small objects that could be chewed or swallowed off the floor to minimize choking hazards or the need for surgery to remove them from the gut (happened to my mom's Rottweiler). Put plants out of reach... some are poisonous. Also anything that may be toxic, like anti-freeze, etc, should not be out where the dog could accidently ingest it, including medications like aspirin. I would recommend crating the puppy when you are not home and even using something like an X pen (an expandable wire pen) when you are not going to be in the same room all the time. It's common sense.

By "touching" the electric cord do you mean a bare wire or what? Most standard electric cords are insulated to avoid electric shock, but if there was a stripped/bare spot on the cord it is possible.

If electricity somehow comes into contact with anyone human or animal it can kill depending on the voltage.

Your puppy can die from electrocution. If you have a bad cord, or your puppy chews on one, it can cause severe burns or death.

When someone human or animal is getting electrocuted, they are not capable of withdrawing from it until the electricity is gone. So no, the pup would be unable to withdraw from it.

Sorry for your loss. Young animals, especially puppies, learn using their mouths like we use our hands. They will chew on literally anything they can reach. An electrical cord, or extension cord, is deadly to puppies, kittens, bunnies, anything with teeth that chews. By the time she feels the shock it is too late. Better puppy proof your house next time.

Yes. Unfortunately, young animals, both cats and dogs, have a tendency to chew on power cords for lamps, televisions, etc. Should the animal breach the insulative covering, they can indeed die from the electrical shock.

Reflex action is overridden by the electricity. They cannot let go and neither can humans when it happens to us. All you can do is unplug the device if you see it happen, but even then it can be too late for very young animals.

I suppose any thing's possible, and I would agree that they should have a reflex as well; if they get stung on their nose by a bee, or if they touch something hot they instinctively back up; but if the shock was too intense and happened too fast I imagine it's possible it didn't have time to react. Did you take it to the vet and ask if they could have an autopsy done?

yes it is possible especially if there are bare or exposed wires. I lost a 3month old Shepard from chewing on a electrical cord. So check your wires to lamps ect. frequently.
Any bite mark where the teeth break through the covering is a potential hazzard.

Did she just touch the electric cord, or did she bite it? If she bit it, there is a very good chance that she could die from that. Touching it alone isn't going to kill her.
Electricity is a funny thing, you can't always get away from it before it hurts you.

yes, it is possible. yes they have reflex but the body might not be able to take the amount of shock from the electric cord. and HOW DID IT HAPPEN? you should keep an eye on that poor puppy.
