I built this computer strictly for gaming, so its by far powerful enough. But, randomly...games freeze. Battlefield has froze everytime I have played...always randomly. Like, in the middle of me firing or dying...and once when I hit a spawn point. Then, call of duty freezes...but I only played it once...it was when we were in the car at the begining. Oblivion froze when I was making a character...I made it completely, hit done...and the button went down and froze. So, how do I fix this?

Oh, when battlefield freezes, it freezes the whole computer not just the game, so I have to hold the power button down to shut it off.

AMD Athlon 5200 X2 64 I believe Windsor...not that that matters.
M2n-e asus motherboard
2 gigs corsair dual channel ram
Nvidia 7900 Pci-e
Antec 900 case...all together I have 4 on the case, 3 on the ram, and one on the processor...then of course the other components like psu and graphics card...

So...why is it doing this? I did everything I could think of.

Nothing is overheating, my cpu is running bout 27c which is like...80 F. My other computer ran about 65c...and it never froze..it was slow at times, but it ran oblivion and battlefield perfectly fine. I defragged, scandisked, reloaded...I can't figure out why games are freezing...

The ram is all fine, and the graphics card is running fine. I downloaded all the updates from the disk that came with, and when I went to the site, there was no new ones.

I think I did something wrong. I checked about 3 days ago for updates...but today I found one. I downloaded it...and an error message popped saying something to the effect of, "Nvidia can't find any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware" ...what the heck does that mean?

The only thing that I can come up with, besides overheating, which you cleared up, is that you could have a faulty RAM module. The reason I say this is because games usually are swapping in RAM quite often. Leading edge games tax your computer more than any other types of programs. I would try getting an open source hardware diagnostic boot cd and doing a full RAM test to see if it passes. I would also do a full hard drive test as well, although I highly doubt the hard drive is to blame. Thanks for posting all of the right info in order to really think about this problem. Most askers don't every supply enough info. Link to a hardware diagnostic boot cd can be found in the source. It's completely free.

does it on mine too, as does fallout 3. looks a bethesda ingredient. probable it stretches to Ps3 incredibly at the same time as theres a lot happening on the same time. Oblivion saved doing it at the same time as i change into going to an surprising conflict scene and had a load of followers, seems that it did now no longer like an outstanding form of human beings on reveal reveal screen at as quickly as.

1. Check your VGA card's fan make sure its operating correctly.
2. Check your memory modules make sure they are not faulty.
3. Check your VGA card's device drivers. You can obtain them at http://www.nvidia.com , always install the latest drivers.
4. Make sure your computer is virus and spyware-free.

It might be your graphics card drivers, update them, or if you dnt have them, just download them from nvidia.com.
