I made a right turn after making my stop and watch for cars. I did not see any vehicle. all of the sudden a car behind me "avoided hitting me and changed line so another car rear endend him. The bottom line: I did not hit anyone, no one hit me, they wanted to make the light, they were speeding, I did my stop and at that time no cars were comming. Now the guy who was rear endend states this: "because I did not want to hit you; I got hit, so the guy who hit me is blaming you and you need to contact my insurance"

Please give me your most honest answer, If It is my fault I will accept the consequences, but if not, definitely I will not be the one who pays for people wanting to make the lights.

thank you

Uncle Red is spot on. I suppose if he had hit you, you would have been at fault for stopping like you are supposed to.

Talk to your agent, and if it gets dicey get an attorney and don't forget to counter sue for harassment and emotional distress. Half a million dollars should get his attention.

Were you at a stop sign? A light? Was it green?

If you were at a stop sign or a red light, you are supposed to stop. Anyone that assumes that you're going to roll through the stop sign/red light is wrong.

If there was no sign/light, then you need to stop for safety.

If there was a green light, I can see how the person behind you would assume that you'd keep going. However, you are expected to slow down. Coming to a stop, unless there are pedestrians, may have been overly cautious.

However... the person behind you cannot claim that they caused an accident due to your coming to a stop. They are responsible for maintaining a safe following distance. Since they did not, they were in the wrong.

One more question: did you signal? If not, then you've violated a law and can THEN be shown to be responsible.

in rear-ends the rule is at that the guy in back is at fault. Was there a police report? I can't see how you were at fault if you stopped--watched for cars and then went you aren't at fault--this doesn't have anything to do with you.

Hang tough, Tell him to have his attorney call you.. This guy was driving erratically and wants to blame someone else. YOU....

You were not involved in the accident, he made the last minute decision to change lanes not you.

Two other people trying to blame you for their poor driving habits.

You should probably call your agent and inform him of what is going on, he will chuckle and say thanks for the heads up
