Definitely call about that recall.

But everyone, please notice that Ol' Roy--the "cheapest crap"--is on the same list as Eukanuba and some other more expensive brands.... Read the news articles about this recall and you'll see that it's the same food being sold under different labels. Eukanuba is the cheapest crap in expensive cans!

Ol Roy was one of the many foods on the recent pet food recall. It is definately not a food I would want my dog eating (no offense) but it is a really low quality food. I would contact Menu foods and your vet to see what can be done to help your dog through this. I hope it works out for you. Here is the website for the dog food recall.

And here is another site to help you find a safer, more beneficial food for your dog, I would recommend going with at least one listed under the 3 stars, higher if you can afford it. Honestly feeding a higher quality (therefore more expensive food) is cheaper in the long run, as it will keep your pet healthier and cut down on vet bills. Good luck with your dog and I hope he can get be helped!

This is an interesting discussion. The recall aside, there are very bad dog foods and very good dog foods. Most foods that you buy in the grocery store or wal mart are not very good foods at all, some, Ol Roy being one are really, really, bad. The cheaper they are the worse they are! If you truly love your pet you will want him to live a good long, healthy life. There are premium dog foods out there, with human grade ingredients, no fillers, no preservatives, no chicken or beef by products (yuk) I feed my dogs Solid Gold, Lamb Rice & Carrots. Check out websites for Wellness, Solid Gold, California Natural, Newmans, just to name a few. More expensive, but well worth it. Science Diet is expensive, but not very good.

I use the ol'roy canned, for a while now...i also mix it in with his dry food. But i havent seen any problems. Is there any symtoms of kidney failure that you can recongize? I just thought it was the pouches.....i know some cans. But i use the large cans, the stew type with carrots and peas. I hope everything is ok with your dog. Sorry thats all I know.
